Might sound silly but I'm getting tired of sitting on a folding chair playing guitar in front of my computer. My back is not happy , lol ... Would like something comfortable with good back support and no arms or removable arms. Was wondering what you guys use when playing, anyone using gaming chairs ? or possibly a comfortable office chair that the arms come off ? I dunno just looking for suggestions before I buy something online and might not like it.

I took an old office chair from work and removed the arms for when I’m playing through the DAW or sims (Fortin Nameless, etc.)

Not the best solution but free is always good. Taller barstools or wooden stools with a seat cushion are good too. I usually stand when I play so I like being up higher if I’m just jamming or messing around with my board.

My sister spent some time and money getting me a guitar chair for Christmas. Big,wide comfortable leather chair with no arms. Super solid. Very nice piece of furniture. I absolutely love it.

2 years later i had it at my girlfriend's place in my own amp room. I came home one weekend and she was worried i was gonna freak out that the cat we adopted had claimed my guitar chair for himself. After a while it had a bunch of claw marks on the seat. Now that the cat has passed away, that chair means even more to me.

Dont skimp out on a cheap chair. Dont get one too tall.

I found a real comfy office chair at Office Depot on sale for $99 ($250 regular price). It has arms but I normally play with my left foot on one of those $7 elevated foot rests.

Did the same, was like $450 but on sale for $199. Totally worth it, but it was 6-7 years ago and its beat to shit from the cats now. Need a new one so I’m looking around too.

I don't know why, but I just feel totally uncomfortable sitting down playing guitar. I almost always just stand up and use a strap, it just feels much more natural.

I have a leather office chair with flip up arms.

I use a normal office chair that I took the arms off of and a little footrest I made to elevate my right leg, works like a charm !

I brought home an old office chair from work. It was an old swivel chair with no arm rests and super thick/firm cushion. Thing is from the 50 's or 60's and is built like a fucking tank but super comfy.

I was looking on CL for a while but I knew it'd happen eventually, found a place getting rid of office chairs for dirt cheap, it was a warehouse clearing. I went in and sat down on about 50 chairs until I found two really comfy ones, gave the guy $5 for both and walked out. Just had to remove the left arm rests.

When and if I play guitar at all anymore..I use a bar stool that has it's support ring at just the right height for my foot to rest on but..I usually stand up when playing

I went with the bar stool height chairs with backs too, and one of those motorized sit/stand desk. It's cool because I can fit a 12U rack, some amp heads, or even a 4x12 under there.

We bought a bar height kitchen table and got two extra chairs. That way we have extra seats for dinner or if a buddy comes over to track on the computer.

I use a top end drummers stool.

Went with the Roc-N-Soc as well. Pretty good so far.

Drum stool is the way to go. Completely adjustable. Some have a removable back.

Currently I'm using a leather couch.

Thanks for all the replies guys ! So far from what you all said I'm gonna look for an office chair that I can remove the arms or flip up. I have a drum stool but I would prefer something with back support .

Yeah, the one above I posted has the back rest. Only down side on that one is the nut crusher that comes into effect when leaning down to fuck with pedals or whatnot.

If you are playing the guitar in a sitting position, you need a more comfortable step stool, especially a model that allows the foot to rest on the pedal. I bought a2-step stooland I like it to be strong enough to support my right foot even if you pick it up. Once you step on it, it will align your back and shoulders with a more upright and natural posture and improve comfort while playing. I often use it to play classical guitar. I don't use those computer chairs, I don't think they are suitable for playing guitar.

Herman Miller mirra, comfy amd the arms lower way down out of the way. I also work from home so I have to sit in it all day anyways it just so happens it great for playing guitar in as well
