This may be a stretch but anyone compare the two? I know the Mark V have way more sounds but is the high gain tones similar in any way? Not really a boogie fan but I like the mark V
I know what you are saying and I think with newer mesas this is 100% true that is why I dont own any, with my older Mesa, like my IIC+ and Strategy 400 when I used the EV equipped cab it really cut down on the farts, but then again they did not fart that bad to begin with.
I did own both, but sold the Mark V. It is not even in the same hemisphere with a CCV with regards to tone and depth and control. If there is any reason that you would want MB tone, invest in a Mark III red stripe. But, to compare the two is like comparing a JCM 800 to a Vox, there are no similarities. Closest you could come is to run 34's in the MKV on Channel 2, but the bottom and top end both fall to pieces in short order.
I have a Modded Marshall by cameron and a Triaxes and a Mark V. I was thinking the other day how similar the red 1 on the Triaxes was to the Modded 800! When I get some time Im going to go back and do a good sound comparison between the two to form a more solid opinion. The 2nd channel on the Mark V IIC+ is a great channel but too much bass.I Actually use the EQ to take out the bass frequencies of that channel. Why they desighned it that way Ill never know.Im sure they got their reasons. It's really the best sound between the 3 on that 2nd ch. but you have to take out the bass all the way out.Joej
the way a boogie is set up is VERY different than a CCV. theyre like two different camps reallt. PLate driven vs cathode driven tone networks, MV,s, Gain Stages etc.
