That’s why we’d put a spot of paint on the trim pots.Might be a "secret", might not...
The ADA MP-1 preamps had a trim pot inside that would up the gain. No need to use a boost pedal, It was all right there with a simple tweak of the pot.
Alot of units over the years of getting knocked around and used heavily would cause the pot to go out of adjustment, thus causing some MP-1's to sound awesome and some not so hot.
I see MP-1's pop up now and then online (musicians fiend, etc.) I'd like to get another one someday but something always says to me "Don't do it".That’s why we’d put a spot of paint on the trim pots.
Biggest problem with ADA was their front panels failing.
I seem to remember their pitch-shifter sucked tone horribly.
GIVE ME A DOLLAR OR GIMME 50 CENTSI built this ...... I use to run it into my Mesa Strategy 400 into two 4 x 12 's
full on Ty Tabor tones ......... since sold my Mesa ..... but it sounds pretty dam good into my Peavey 50/50 doing the same thing
