Very cool. I saw the last tour. Grohl own an arena when he hits the stage. You can tell it is what he lives to do.

grohl is just an incredible musician, i mean he's got the chops, he's got the stage presence, and not to mention the songwriting ability
i love watching the video of him doing tiny dancer on acoustic guitar on letterman/conan (can't remember which one)...he's cracking jokes and singing and playing and got the whole crowd involved, just simply awesome.

Dave Grohl's compositions are a celebration of musical mediocrity, and sonically define the term 'bubble gum' to the plen-T-pack. I'm sure most of the kids who frequent Rig-Talk will get upset by this, and will respond accordingly. You may one day agree with my comments, once you have grown as a musician. If you decide to go the route of pop music icon like Dave has, then be the best pop musician you can! I only ask that if you happen to run into Dave Grohl, perhaps you can enlighten him to the concept of a key-change.

It's not that you don't like him (everyone's entitled to their own opinion) it's that you come off just as pretentious as you claim him to be. Pretty funny, actually.

I'm not a kid at age 43 or a Grohl fan boy but that's just laughable. I didn't agree with some of what he said. I thoguht the speach was entertaing and he made few good points.
But your little diatribe where you slam his music for being simple is just stupid. Just because a song is simple and in one key doesn't make it suck.

There is nothing 'pretentious' as stating ones opinion... Nothing at all. You may want to reexamine your use of the term. I think he's good at what he does, it's just that I don't like it.

i listen to plenty of technical stuff, and try to learn it and it's challenging and i enjoy it...
Dave's music may not be technical at all, but he's a hell of a musician (he recorded all the instruments on the first few FF albums). He's a hell of a songwriter and he puts on a hell of a show. Maybe that doesn't excite you and thats fine, but I am happy to make a place in my world for good old straightforward rock and roll...yes thats what i think foo fighters are. To each his own i guess.

The assertion that most of us are "kids" and that our (assumed) appreciation for Dave Grohl is due to our lack of growth as musicians is a bit antagonistic, however. Don't get me wrong; I'm not a fanboi, but I do appreciate a lot of Dave's music and his drive to succeed. I just disgree with the less than eloquent way that the opinion was stated.
Hopefully I used all of the right words

I don't know if it's a failure of the public school system, or if you just don't understand the definition? 'Pretentious' does not and cannot apply in any way to my comment. It is not a FACT that Dave Grohl is a talented musician, as this is a matter of personal perspective and is therefore subject to opinion. It is not possible for one to be 'pretentious' when stating their opinion in matters of personal perspective.
