I long video but some really cool stuff here and there. Worth checking out if your a fan of Vivian's
His talents are wasted in Def Leppard. This was his Riverdogs era...height of his playing IMO. Not to mention that first Riverdogs album is fantastic. That said he can still lay waste to Collen. He's just head and shoulders better than Collen as a player but not his role in Def Lepp.
He had some excellent solo's when he played with Dio .His talents are wasted in Def Leppard.
but his bank account is hummingHis talents are wasted in Def Leppard.
Yes that’s him . I only know the stuff he’s done with Fastway thoughIs that Dave King from Flogging Molly?
Yeah I like Viv but man he really doesn't get to shine like the shiny, oiled one does. His talents are wasted in Def Leppard.
Depends on what his talents are supposed to be, I guess, he´s been pretty open about not being the shredder he was but has also mentioned plenty of times that he is a better musician, writer and singer now than he was thirty years ago. Def Leppard is 80% of his pro career and half his life at this point, so I don´t think he regrets the compromise that much. On that note I always wonder what would have happened if Blue Murder-era John Sykes had stepped in after Steve Clark died, as was intended at the time, but I doubt he would have stuck around all these years considering what a recluse he´s been.

IMO those first three Dio albums, especially Holy Diver don't work without Viv. Viv was right place, right time for RJD.He had some excellent solo's when he played with Dio .
Makes me wish I could travel back in time to 89 myself. I was 18 at that time ... miss those days.I love me some VC thanks for sharing very cool video!
Isn't that the truth I was 20 in 89 so we're right in the same era great music!Makes me wish I could travel back in time to 89 myself. I was 18 at that time ... miss those days.
I cant agree with this more. Every friggin rig rundown vid with Phil he sounds like a kid in GC on a Saturday afternoon trying to play fast but just cant. Its pretty painful. Dude needs to trade his bottle of baby oil for a Mel Bay book! His talents are wasted in Def Leppard.
I remember about this time.. Viv tried to pick up my best friend's sister at a club in Little Rock. She asked me the next day if I had ever heard of him because she didn't know who he was and didn't care but knew I listened to that music. He told her he was a famous guitarist and showed her his limo and gave her an album and some autographed pics but she still wouldn't go with him.Makes me wish I could travel back in time to 89 myself. He can still shred, no doubt about it. Idk wtf he’s talking about.Depends on what his talents are supposed to be, I guess, he´s been pretty open about not being the shredder he was but has also mentioned plenty of times that he is a better musician, writer and singer now than he was thirty years ago.
