Cornford MK50II maybe the only amp I’ve never had that still peaks my interest.

How much do they go for in Europe?

and can you tell me about them? I’m familiar with most other amps. Atm I have a IIC+ and a Soldano Hot Rod 50+.

Does it overlap with the Soldano?

I’ve owned all the amps you mention here. To my ear, the Cornford was cool, but darker and smoother than the Soldano. The C+ is in another league.
If I had both those amps, I wouldn’t bother with the Cornford. It’s a different flavor, but not enough to justify the money. Take this with a grain of salt……my gas is non existent these days. Just outgrown the chase.

The Cornford is in relatively similar territory to your HR50, but darker. I think they excel at lead tones because of the darker voicing.

If those two amps are the only two in your stable right now, I would seek out something that covers different tonal territory, but that's just me.

If it was an insanely good price, I might pull the trigger anyways - who knows? It could be the perfect amp for your playing, who knows.

At least as far as the MkII and the hr50 go, they do cover pretty similar territory.

I agree. I tried the Cornford MK50II a few times at Ultrasound back in the day. Nice amp, but the Komet’s and old JCM800’s they had next to it sounded better to me and more aggressive, making me forget about the Cornford

I had MKII in the past and it has similar voicing like Soldano’s but little more vintage voicing. I has ´butique crunch’ which Hot Rod and MK C+ doesn’t have. It also have great clean channel and perfect loop. It is one of the loudest 50 watters, massive transformers. We had one in studio beside 2204 and Cornford sound beefier.
I payed 2000€ with matching 2x12 for mine.
Here is mine doing some Sleya.

A guy on Instagram told me last week that they are plentiful in used market in the UK and that they can be had for good prices.

Irritating for sure when you stoke someone out and they turn around and sell for huge profit.
Yeah agreed. I knew I could’ve gotten more for the amp, but I made 1k over what I paid. If I’d have know the guy was going to sell it that quick , I would have just kept it.
