Could anyone advise me on whether I made the right choice

I recently purchased a 2x12 closed back Avatar cabinet with a Wizard/Swamp Thang speaker combo and opted for the 16 ohm version. However, I'm unsure if I made the right choice and whether I should have gone for the 8 ohm option instead. My intention is to connect it to my 6505, Mark III, and Mark V amplifiers, in addition to my existing Orange PPC 412 cabinet. I just wanted a second cabinet to connect to other amps. Could anyone advise me on whether I made the right choice

call me crazy but I prefer my 4x12's at 8 ohms.....if it does not work out for you please feel free to send me any of the offending pieces of equipment. I will make that sacrifice of bearing that burden to make you feel better bro....

I would be more worried about your speaker combo. 16 or 8 is fine but the Swamp Thang is probably going to drown out the Wizard. It's an effin' loud speaker. I've never paired it with something so hopefully somebody that has can chime in.

I believe the orange 4x12 is also 16ohm, so you can run both of your cabs in parallel for a total of 8 ohms.

I like to stand my 2x12s on end when possible to help complete with a 4x12 for stereo. Putting the “quieter” speaker on top helps balance out any mismatches as well

It’s all trial and error when it comes to speakers/matching with amps; different ohm ratings etc. Only you can judge the tone. Best thing to do is, research what speakers tend to work with your amps by reading others opinions.
V30s always work with Mesas for example; while a GB or similar works with 5150/6505/SLOs.
I personally don’t care for Eminence; they tend to ‘fart out’ at higher volumes imo.

I can't say much on the speaker combo, but as far as ohms are concerned you're fine as long as they match what your amps can handle. If your 412 is also 16 ohms you want to make sure to connect that with your new 212 in parallel for 8 ohms total. Putting them in series would give you 32 ohms; I don't know of any amp that can run with that.

If I remember the Mark III doesn't have a 16ohm speaker option so if that's the case you want 8ohm cabinet. You could get away with 16ohm I'm sure but it won't sound quite as good as if it was an 8ohm.

If you run the 2x12 with the 4x12 together it won't split the power evenly between the speakers. If both cabs were same impedance then it would split the power evenly between the two CABS.

I believe you! But I stand by my statement too...I've always thought they sounded fuller and not as mid-forward when run into the right load. It's just my opinion and you're not the first to disagree. It's not night and day and is very cab dependent.
