Crate Power Block as a Cheap Power Amp?

Any one try the Crate Power Block as a power amp? How does it work?

I use it
it works great
I got the idea from mentoneman and others over at vintage amps message board

I use it for wet effects
doesn't color the sound and is plenty loud
and right in my price range

I've done it a few time, worked out alright. Tone was alright, didn't seem to add/take away much.

I say give it a try. At that price, you're not risking too much.

My dad got me one for an Xmas present a few years ago.

Super solid. Used it as a bass amp, weekly, at practice for about 2 years, cranking it, no issues.

Used it quite a few times as a guitar amp, with a distortion pedal into it, with suprisingly good tone for a $99 cheap little head.

Can you run a 16 ohm 4x12 cab off of it?

is there anything that is similar to the power block that has stereo inputs? I would like to run separate inputs if possible. Not a deal breaker, but would help when I run some stereo effects on stage.

i actually used one of these in a pinch one time, it was the backline at a club in NYC. i threw a pedal or two in front of it and got decent tone. i should pick one up for a backup

I thought when I looked at the picture, it only had a single input on the front, I'll have to reasearch more.

It does, but it has stereo inputs in the back that bypass all of the knobs in front. You control output by input level.

Excellent backup power amp.

If I were gigging these days, i would have one of these puppies and a decent distortion pedal for backup.

I tried one with the Scot Ian distortion pedal and thought it sounded pretty damn good.
