Creambacks

May be the amp, but in every online clip I have seen comparing these, the M65 Cream has a bit more midrange and sounds a bit more vintage, the H75 Cream is a bit flatter EQ and high gain sounds a bit smoother. For a Soldano, I’d lean 75. Maybe even pair the 75 Creamback with a GT75??

FWIW - I found a quad of M65 Creams to sound a bit flat and 2-D for lack of a better term. I now have a 65 Cream paired with a Mesa (UK) Vintage 30 and absolutely love the way they work together. Thiele ported closed back 2x12.

Interesting you say. I have V30s I’m pairing with the creambacks. I guess that’s important info for this thread.

Which amp, assuming its a Soldano SLO for example, from a survey it seems Greenbacks or high powered greenbacks were very popular. Along with V30s and EVs.

My only experience is my Mojotone Canyon 1x12 with a Neo-creamback in it and I'm not too jazzed with the sound of my SLO-30 through it.

My SLO30 sounds killer through my Creamback M / Gold loaded 2x12, and pretty freaking good through a 1x12 loaded with a Creamback M

I like greenbacks best with my SLO, but it works well with both versions of Creambacks and Redbacks

I like the standard Greenback and the EVH Greenback with my Splawns but I didn't care for the Creamback 65s . I had them up top and 75s on the bottom in a 4x12 and there was a mid range honk I couldn't dial out. I switched out the 65s with GT75s and it cured that , sounded killer. FWIW I never played thru the 65s or 75s on their own though

I’m also a Greenback and EVH Celestion guy. I can’t stand the Creamback 65’s……,,they are nasal, flat, and murky sounding to me. I find the 75’s usable, but not my preference.

I actually like the neo Creamback over both by a good margin. I currently have a pair loaded in an EVH 2x12 for a light, grab and go cab. The neos sound closer to the greenback reissue than the 65’s to me. They are clearer sounding without the high end scratch of the 75’s.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I like the 65's with Splawns or really any Marshall type amp, I love the 75's with KSR. I have a cab with 75s and redbacks now and I love it. The redbacks just have some oomph to them (technical term) its like the bass stays really focused.

I have never played a Slo but based on most peoples description I would go 75's.

I’ve got a Suhr PT212 that I pulled the CB75s out of. I found them to be overly bright with a harsh top end. I replaced them V30s for my MKIV and BE100
