Criss Oliva Appreciation

the first time i heard holocaust i was blown away. years later, gutter ballet blew my mind. years later, i built a guitar based on the white charvel model 7 tele style from that video. aptly named "gutter ballet".

i used to love savatage back in high school. my senior picture quote is even a savatage lyric lol. good stuff!
 
I also grew up in central FL and is also about the same time I started playing.
It was one of the best times to be listening to the music. Jon and Criss made it real for me, I've always thought that Criss was one of the most innovative guitarists from that time frame. I still listen to it all on a regular basis. If you want more of Criss' style and tone check out the Jon Oliva Pain
Project. It features Matt Laporte who was basically Criss' protege so to speak.

Alex is in the first video (live vid) but the music and other tracks I posted are Chris.

He didn't play on "Edge". That was Criss' last before he died. Alex joined the band for "Handful of Rain".
