Curt Mangan strings... Anyone?

The R7 that I recently purchased was setup with a new set of 10's, but they feel like 9's to me. :dunno:

I just always stick to my nickel blues .11" d'addarios as I have for 15 years. I have tried others and always came back. I get nine months out of them easily (keep in mind that I actively play at least eight guitars) never break them. For me they work. I wasn't impressed with the NYXL per dollar than the others, didn't like the RPS. I have never liked elixers. I did get a 10 pack of EB13's and they were fine, but just that.

Dunlop has always been shit for me.

Or it could just be that they feel stiffer.

As much as I wanted to like the NYXLs when they came out a few years ago, I found that for me at least they felt at least 1 gauge stiffer than one would expect. They were too-pricey for me anyway, so too bad, 'cause I felt that if I'd gone down a size I might've achieved a similar feel to what I was used to, and of course, IMHO at least, they sounded very-good. Plenty of sparkle that hung around for weeks of use.

I've recommended them to a couple of peeps since, but always with the caveat that they try 1 gauge down from what they normally use in order to bring things back-to-normal.

So yeah, could it just be that the CM strings are stiffer than regular ones at equivalent gauges?
I agree with this. I have a guitar with 10 gauge NYXL’s and I swear they feel more like 11’s. I’m not a fan.

I received my 6 x pack of EB RPS 9's today. These are by-far the worst sounding guitar strings I have ever played! Nothing like what I'm accustom to from Ernie Ball of the 1970's/1980's. The Mangan strings sound what you would expect from a good set of guitar strings. I tried an old set of GHS Boomers as well, but didn't care for those either. Better than EB, for sure. I hope I can exchange the remaining EB RPS packs for alternates.

I use these and NYXLs. Love em
