My very first Diezel to actually play in person yesterday. I was quite impressed and got me interested in Diezel amps in general. How does D-moll compare to Herbert or VH4? any D-moll users happy with thiers?

I think it depends on what you are looking for, but yes, I love my DMoll. I never had it side by side with Herbert but played both a lot and DMoll can get in the same tonal ballpark. FWIW, I've flipped a lot of amps these past few years and DMoll stays. Great amp.

That being said, I'm super interested in VH2

Tough comparison , definitely same family, but vastly different characters.
Try and play a VH4 or wait for the upcoming Vh2

I really need to try the VH4. I always figured it'd be another high gain amp, but D-moll I played kinda changed my mind set about the whole brand.

I think D-moll fits what I play. I like playing heavy riffs, hard rock, classic rock and blues.
I liked what I was hearing for modern high gain tone. I rolled off the gain on the 2nd ch and guitar volume knob and I was having fun playing blues and jazz licks, too. It was more versatile than I expected.
I just wondered if VH4 and Herbert will offer even more, and yes I am quite interested in the VH2 and also the VH4 pedal as well.

I love my D-Moll as well. I've owned a Herbert and played a couple of VH4's. I've played mine live numerous times in a two guitar band, where the other guitarist played a Herbert. The tones were awesome in my opinion. I feel the D-Moll has a bit more cut in the mix. Both are great amps. I guess I didn't get along too well with the VH4. Just didn't do it for me like the D-Moll or Herbie.

I'm playing it here(not so well, mind you) against an Engl Fireball 100. I felt it burried the Engl.

Just my opinion. Oh, and I love the Diezel clean tone!!!

I had a d-moll and felt like it didnt cut at all in a mix (other amp fireball 100), and the mids were not scooped at all...this is compared to a 5153 50watt, had to crank the thing to hear it...try before you buy for sure, lost about $500 on that try out!

Interesting. The FB in that vid above has the mids maxed. My mids weren't maxed. Close but not maxed. I felt what helped the D-Moll cut was the mid cut. Strangely enough I though it boosted the mids when dialed a certain way.

Might have been my tube choice though. I really love Gold Lion KT77's in that amp. It really came alive for me. A lot less dark than the JJs.

YMMV

Here is a vid I did a couple weeks ago just farting around. I sure dig the tone.

Made a comparison of some clean amps I have as well.

I'm a horrible clean player. It's also difficult for my brain to switch between 3 amps and not screw everything up. :D

I love Diezel clean.

I dig the tone man, so punchy and angry!

I am actually debating between Friedman JJ100 and D-Moll, but I was curious about other Diezels too.
I wish I could get both the JJ and D-moll argh... $$$

Thank you fine sir!

Hopefully you can find a way to swing both.

The struggle is real. :D

That is a conundrum with 2 distinctly different amps.
Having a DMoll, I may grab a Synergy BE module to add to the loop.

The Marshall BE mods sound much closer to the real deal than the Diezel module I tried, I think due to the power amp structure. Just a thought to help add to your GAS

That Creeping Death video has some stellar DMoll tone; that is clear and powerful!

Yeah that's why I said I want both. :D
The BE100 is an amzing amp too, that's the amp which started my GAS for the friedman amps.
Luckily my GC has all the friedman amps, the more I play I think the JJ fits me just a bit better, but then I also played the D-moll they had and really liked it too. Wish I could have all three...

I still really want to try a Hagen. :aww:

There was a Hagen for $2200 or less IIRC at the classifieds like a month ago.
I just didn't want to buy without trying, and it got sold pretty fast. Kinda wish I had jumped on it.
From the clips I hear, I seem to dig the D-moll more tough.

I played the Herb and Dmoll side by side and had em up loud. The Dmoll was by far the better sounding and feeling amp for me. It seemed more natural sounding and had a more "lively" character while the Herbert felt almost sterile and processed in comparison. I've played the VH4 several times too but not back to back. From memory, the VH4 is still my favorite for dirty tones. Dmoll for clean.

Yeah for some reason I was never really drawn to Herbert, but since some say D-moll is like a lil bro to Herbert I got curious. That's cool you liked the D-moll more than Herbert. From what I read D-moll has less compression(which still seemed more than average amps), I wonder how compressed the Herbert is then.
I've been always curious about the VH4 tough, I just never come across one to play one. One time my GC got one in as used, but it got sold too fast for me to go in and try.

I know these amps don't need one but any of you Diezel guys try a clean boost with a mid flavor to cut better? Like an SD1/Maxon/TS? I set my 2C+ up relatively dark but then boost it with an OD1X, just a clean boost but it adds some nice upper mid bite.

I use an OD to apply a clean boost all the time, especially hi gain ch3 stuff it is BROOOOTZ City
unboosted is a great tone too, all depends on content/what you're going for
