Very cool
Thanks for posting these up!
All the amps sounded great.
I liked hearing the contrast of the "Jose" style amps vs the Wizard approach vs the Friedman thing.
Also thought it was pretty cool how there were 3 amps that were built ( or significantly modded ) by Rig Talkers , and all 3 were right in there with the big boy $$$ amps tone-wise.

That is all a whole lot of work Scott. Hats off to you.

Still kind of going through them but honestly, they are all starting to sound the same

I'm sure live in the room all the little nuances could be picked up. Otherwise, it sounds/looks like a full on massive modded marshall brigade force x10.

There is something to be said in regards to the player etc .. on the same amp.. for example, the Mojave and Gower Jose are mine and ive never heard them sound like that. I'm glad I asked .. Was it Mike? to play through them. He got a much harder edge and killer grind out of the amps, killer punchy mids out of the mojave.. great sounds out of the Gower Jose..I think it was just a LP with 490's or 498's? something like that.. I would have played through the Fortin and a couple of more amps but we ran out of time...the day went so fast..

Id be up for another one perhaps multi room, soonish.. I can try to help, we use to do these in New Zealand.. quite fun..Im suprised no other Austin players or nearby turned up..
I've done an Ampfest is Austin. I tnk at the music lab? Lots of rooms. No one volunteered from Austin the past few timed

I have yet to meet the local crowd that is into these amps, most I know are into edge of breakup, chasing the EJ/SRV thing...

That was my 2013 Black LP with the stock 490R, and 498T. It was on the 498T the whole time. I've contemplated many time swapping those pickup out to something more vintage, hah, but they kill so they will stay.

Anyway I'm back Dudes, unless they ban me again

Yep.. I think so... kills me.... I can only take very small doses of that...

Damn! Thanks for doing this Scott. Agree, I think they all sounded great, but for me the Wizards, Gower and Mojave stood out.

Funny I've not played or been in the room with any of the newer Wizard 50 / 100 watt amps - but immediately recognized that Wizard 'thing' in these clips. I base this off having played my MC25 regularly for a couple of years now in all sorts of settings. Strong DNA there to be sure. Nice work putting all of that together too, thx.

Just to give some context, there was a point where we started cranking the volumes to ear bleed levels. That was where you hear the Wizards, Gower, Mojave, and Fortin. We didn't have a whole lot of time so some of the other amps didn't get to cook, and some amps we didn't even get to.

MTL wow !!!

This vid, I played my LP through the MTL into that naked Scumback cab
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wor5Y0n ... e=youtu.be
I can hands down say, that was the best metal tone, and feel I've experienced. Just amazing.

Now that being said the Jose modded Mojave was damn close to the Wizzards.

CNutz:

Listened to this clip. What speakers were in the Naked cab? Just curious if you know. Thanks!

Jim

I had a black Les Paul that I played through the Mojave. I don't recall anyone having a green LP.
