I've played 3 VM's at various stores.

The Sam Ash VM with a D-activator loaded Ibanez Vblade was one of the smoking-est Warren Dimartini-type tones I've EVER heard.

The Sweetwater VM sounded good. up to my standards

The GC VM sounded wretched. unbelievable how they can make decent gear sound unplayable.

It thrives on humbuckers when doing anything remotely heavy. It's amazing when playing the VM how much more sustain a humbucker has over a single coil. Don't get me wrong I can play my Strat and still be digging it but I do get frustrated at times. My Dean with the Dimebucker... no sustain issues at all ;)

Sweeeeeeeeet. I'll probably be hittin ya up for some tips in a week or so cuz I have one coming pretty soon :)

Did you get my email? I might not be here on saturday but I can leave the hotplate on the porch if you still want to try it.

Yeah. I might see you Sunday if I don't have anything pressing going on here. I work until 2 or so, I'll just take 219 to 30, drive over the hill there and be at your pad by 3-ish. I'll call you Saturday or at the very latest Sunday after work. Does that sound OK? I'll call you or e-mail you when I know for sure.

Yeah, let me know. If I won't be here Sunday either, I can still leave it.

Bought a Boss Compressor/Sustainer today but took it right back. Yes it adds a ton of sustain but it also adds to much noise.

Have ya ever tried the Fulltone Fatboost? Its a clean boost that gives ya like +20db of boost without really affecting the EQ of the amp. Just gives that extra bit of gain needed

They just brought out a new FatBoost 2 which looks great too

Well I have the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster which is a clean boost. I like the tone that results from using the Keeley SD-1 more. I tried using both but it really didn't do it for me.

You need a Furman PQ3... then you can get an assload of boost and you can EQ it pretty much however you like! You can hone in on the exact frequencies you like to hear boosted!

Those are hard to come by aren't they?

Yes ya nut. I even PM'd ya. :aww: :D I love my tone but wish I could get the "feel" I had with the Mk IV. Now with my humbucker loaded guitars there really isn't to much of an issue but my Strat just isn't as fun to play with the Vintage Modern. Plus a more aggressive tone from time to time would be nice. Yes your clips sound great.

Well theyre on Ebay every so often, Rufus Leaking just had one up for sale recently for a great price!! the PQ3 is one of the coolest things i own, only thing is you'l need some way of bypassing it (putting it in a loop selector or switcher). I have it in one of the loops on my CAE 4x4 switcher, and i just bypass the loop whenever i dont want it in my signal.

Whats the difference between a PQ 3 and a PQ4?
