How do you guys dampen your trem springs to stop them from ringing? It's happening in one of my Floyd Rose guitars and it's noticable at higher volumes, takes a second or two after muting the strings for the springs to stop ringing, rather annoying. Strange that I've never noticed this problem in my other guitars.

Are there any good products out there for this?

One of my RG's has springs that used to ring like a mofo. I just cut some pieces of foam out a bit longer than the spring and pulled them through using a paperclip - problem solved.

Q-tips works great. Just shove em in.

I learned that trick here btw.

Suhr guitars use a rubber band stuffed
inside the springs.

I use cut up foam strips or electrical tape...... But the suhr idea sounds better.

I have stuck cotton balls in between them, and I have also taken paper towels and weaved them in and out through them.

I was thinking about trying this. I usually see it at Grainger, its for dipping tools on after the grips come off. I think its like $10 but I doubt you'd ever be able to use it all just on springs :dunno:

Fuck it, couldn't get the pics to work, its called plasti dip.

Fish tank air tubing

Snip and put inside the springs

Super easy and clean.

I use heavy-duty noisless springs from floyd upgrades

Thanks for all the great ideas, guys! The pipe cleaners idea might also work for dampening the strings near the tuners behind the nut.
