DAR FBM 100 4x12 Dynamic Lighting Video & Pix Inside NCD!

I remember a few years ago DAR was planning on doing some seriously big things to the amp world. This cab has Celestion V30's and k100's in an x pattern, LEDs to illuminate the speakers and looks awesome otherwise. This is the matching cab for the DAR Future Breed Machine 100 head. Now I just need to find one of those heads!


As far as I know this is the first of its kind and 1 of only 2 ever built like this. The lighting, like the head can be changed to just about any color you could want.

In the video I had the sensitivity up too high, I'll make another vid with it turned down, the lighting is much more active.

Right now I have zero expectations for this cab. I find going at it like that I will be able to listen to it for what it actually is rather than what I think it should/could be. But man, if looks could kill!

The heads go for crazy $$$, not sure if I'd put up that kind of money. Won't know unless one pops up I suppose, but an FBM I would likely sell everything else to get if I had to.

Well keep in mind everything I have pops up for sale fairly often, not like you can run out and buy it all today, it would take time to find it all of course, but a DAR FBM, when was the last time you saw one for sale? I haven't ever seen a used one for sale. I've found some old for sale posts from years ago that was about all.

Yeah, there are only 9 or so FBM's out there, and those that have the ones that still work wouldn't let them go for if we had to. I'd be homeless, walking the streets begging for food carrying a heavy flight case as a pillow.

There is a forza for sale in Tennessee. I almost bought it a while back. They won't ship it, so you would have to go get it. 4.7k with a matching 2x12. You would be amazed what these amps sound and feel like.

Got the cab today, sounds bonkers! The dynamic lighting really sets it off. I had the sensitivity up to high on this vid, it looks way better when I turned the sensitivity down.

I only got to jam on it for maybe an hour, & half of that time I was messing with the lighting, so I cant quite answer that yet. That being said, i think this one just might be putting my Uberkab on notice for who's the best cab in the room. My favorite speakers are v30's and k100's in 4x12's, t75's i still like just not as much. This was with my Peavey 5150ii head, no pedals or effects otherwise. I couldn't believe the sound, & the lighting just adds to that.

They had a few of those cabs at NAMM 2011. You can only see about half of them in this vid my girlfriend took while I hacked up some notes on Frederik's (From Meshuggah) LACS.

It's really too bad what went down with that company, they had so much interest. When I was there at NAMM, I believe it was Paul I was talking to and the dude was so excited about this stuff.

You can set the l.e.d's so that it glows one color (blue) and changes to another (red) as you play. You can mix the primary colors too, I have my head change from green at idle to purple when the gate opens.

From looking at your back plate, there might be l.e.d's around the edge of the cabinet too.

Bad ass! Several 2x12's there, I wonder if that cab is this ones twin, or if it's the one I have?! The person I spoke with was confident there was only two like this one ever built. Several 2x12's & a different style of 4x12 without a center bar or lighting were built From what I understand.

There is 6 push/pull knobs, & the sensitivity setting on the back, I will have a lot more time to mess with it today once Im off work. Definitely stoked, this cab rips, & the leds just kick it up another notch.

Ok, just spent a couple hours playing many different heads with their cabs then with the DAR cab. Every single head sounded better through the DAR cab. My V3 through the DAR will blow away my Uberschall through its Uberkab. The Uberschall through the DAR of course blows everything else away, but man you could probably hook up a solid state $50 head to this cab and blow away most tube heads. I think I may test that theory. Ibanez tbx100h comes to mind here, I know where there's one locally for not much.

So to answer your question, this cab smokes every cab I own. Keep in mind we're talking metal here, I have tested it for nothing else. Also keep in mind I didn't change any settings on any heads, so they were set at the settings that I think sound best through their respective cabs. This cab is just bonkers. As you can see in my sig I have 8 total 4x12's and 1 2x12(t75 loaded Carvin v3 combo cab) with a variety of high quality speaker, so what I said above is not just by a small margin. I do the same tests with all my cabs every time I get a new cab, none come close.
