That's quite sad. You should be able to claim a refund quite easily.

Dean imports are hit and miss. Sorry you got a bad one from a shitty seller. Hope you find one you love one day.

In addition to the signs of use, it had many blems. It should have never left the factory.

Seller is taking it back. However, he says he'll only refund if he receives it back in same condition as it was when he shipped it. So, hopefully he doesn't pull any shenanigans.

I bought it on Ebay, so they are on alert, as is Paypal. I notified him and sent pictures within an hour of opening the box, so he really doesn't have a leg to stand on.

What a shitty seller..hope you get your $ back and can put a little scar in his feedback rating.

If it showed up with all those dings that the seller supposedly didnt know about, isnt it already in a condition other that what they say they shipped?

On the other hand, most people charge a hefty premium for relicing. Seems like an "easy" claim. Good luck.

Just FYI. I’ve got a lot of experience with Deans. If you’re gonna buy an import, make sure it’s from around 2015 or newer. They had horrific QC for years. But they’ve stepped up their game the last few years. The last few imports I’ve owned have been top notch.

I think they stopped making the Soltero prior. I still want one, but now, not as much. The guitar was beautiful, but deplorable playing condition, in addition to other issues.

Check out the Dean thoroughbred. It replaced the Soltero. It even comes in that same finish

Exactly. I hope he doesn't pull any shit. I already sent it back, and filed a "not as described" Paypal claim. I provided pics to Ebay.

That really sucks man. Sorry to hear about that. There are so many dirt bags out there that when you deal with a decent person, it seems like a Biblical miracle like healing the blind. People don't want to put in the work anymore. Everyone wants instant "fill in the blank" and it irritates the s**t out of me.

I know there are good people out there in the world but man, it is getting more rare.

Take another look at the Solo II Custom if you want a KILLER modernized LP import.

It's on the radar. Just wish I knew how the Pasadena pickups sounded. I'd like to pickup something with upgraded pickups.

This one checks all the boxes: https://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i ... 0NTQM-LIST
The Pasadena's have really grown on me. Mainly the bridge pickup, because I've loved the neck pickup since day one. Likely the best neck humbucker I've ever played. I use that pick up a lot now in my playing as a result.
I feel these are just as good quality as Seymour Duncan's if not better quality. These are what I would say are top-tier pickups that would be hard to upgrade from. Anything else in my opinion would be a lateral movement to another pickup, or a degraded movement based purely on player preference.

I also own an LTD Horizon similar to the link in your post, and it's also a great guitar but a different style obviously.
My biggest complaint with that guitar is the body is too thin for my liking and the body shape appears small to me. Not quite as big as a strat body and not as big as its ESP counterpart. But the neck plays great, the jumbo frets are awesome and mine has active pickups with Seymour Duncan Blackouts that I put in which just shred and thump like crazy. It's a nice choice but not something I typically choose to play over my Solo IIs.
