What a great f*ckin album. I kinda missed out on it... I guess because I was 6 when it came out but I got hooked on pyromania when it was first released (at age 8) and remember Bringing on the Heartbreak from back then as well. I actually thought high 'n' dry was follow up to pyromania but it preceded it apparently. Anyway, decided to give the whole album a listen wow, what great tones and great straight ahead rock tunes. Great album. I just bought it. Guess I'm 34 years late to the party but I'll say this is my favorite Def Leppard album. I'm not a fan of the poppy sounding stuff in hysteria and later but the early stuff kicks ass. (disclaimer, I kinda dig Love Bites). Any other early Def Leppard fans out there?

Yup right here....Was just figuring out some tunes on that album....Cool stuff

"you got me running" my favorite Def Leppard song by far is on that album.

The brilliance of Mutt Lang! Such a great tone, sound, and feel.. not to mention the hooks, songwriting techniques etc.. cant say enough

Best album they made.

I agree completely !

+2 although there are some pretty strong tunes to be found on On Through The Night as well. Wasted, Rocks Off, and Rock Brigade off the top of my head kick all kinds of ass. Definitely worth a listen.

Listening to On Through the Night (the album) now. It doesn't suck

man, i remember having that album on vinyl....my joy with that album was nearly eclipsed by my disappointment with Hysteria

Me too! I saw them live on this tour opening for Ozzy with Rhoads. Do I even need to say how instrumental that night was in shaping my life?

What a show!

Best Leppard album by far!!! Let it go, High 'n' Dry, Bringin' On The Heartbreak, Switch 625, You got Me Runnin' , Lady Strange, On Through The Night..........Awesome

Yeah they have a few really solid tunes on other records , but High 'n' Dry will always be their pinnacle for me without question for both songs & tones.

I have it on vinyl. Got it when I was young. mirror mirror/take a look into my eyes was always my fav song. My fav by them as well, but yea gotta admit, the opening of pyromania, into rock rock til ya drop gave me goose bumps as a 5th grader. Haha. So hungry they were.

Now all we got is Elliot and his gut

At 17 we were playing High n Dry and Let it Go back in 83..with no singer lol. Saw them headline at the LaCrosse ctr here in Wi the same year...they were and still are the LOUDEST show I've ever seen. Priest-Screaming for Vengeance the year before is a distant 2nd. Years later in '94 we started off the main stage at Rock Fest here in Wi with Switch 625 and ran it right into 'New York City' by the Cult. Love the Leppard!

Absolutely at their pinnacle.

On Through The Night a close 2nd

Early pantera had a bunch of songs from on thru the night and high and dry in their sets. Those two albums were awesome back in the day. My favorite is "no no no". Great main riff, and the most irritating ending ever.
