I jam along to that album at least once a month. My favorite DL album too.

One odd thing. I love the tune Me and My Wine but it is not on my copy. Must have been on a different version of the release.

Killer tones and tunes! I love Mirror Mirror because of the perfect intonation on the guitars. They just sing. Great Marshall crunch too, not too much gain (like later albums), great dual licks. Awesome album.

Yep, "Me and My Wine" and a remix of "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" with keyboards were added to one of the later releases of the album, but it doesn't look like they're included anymore.

DL's first 3 albums were the soundtrack of my teenage years. I remember sitting in my room trying to nail "No, No, No" for days cause I thought it had some of the coolest guitar parts ever. Steve Clark was my generation's Jimmy Page where writing killer riffs was concerned.

They're best. I was in the same boat as you, got Pyro when I was 9 and when I was 12 went on an east coast school trip, so my parents let me buy two tapes to keep me occupied on the bus. I bought High and Dry and something that I don't even remember. High and Dry was on a continuous loop that whole year. I love the raw guitar tones and the melodies just stick, but still rock out, unlike Hysteria.

Lots of good songs on High N Dry. Really dug their stuff from the first record through Hysteria. I thought their last album Sparkle Lounge was a solid effort as well. The loss of Steve Clarke left a very large hole in their writing though.

Def Lep production and song quality is often underrated. Monster albums!

High and Dry was very good. Sadly soon after that they employed the services of a very avg. Phil C. and decided Bubble Gum Kiddie Rock was the way too go.
But hey they sold millions with the limp rock formula and still tour too this day.

Hysteria is pretty awesome for what it is from a poppy rock soundwriting perspective. The choruses are huge and it has a ton of hooks. However, like you guys said, i liked the more raw dry hard rocking stuff and those first three albums are it. After hysteria they pretty much lost me....

Randy and Ozzy and a young Def Leepard?! Shezam... i listen to some of those old Randy bootlegs and holy shit did he bring it live. What energy he had.

Great album...anyone have any insight on what model of Marshalls they were using? Speakers?

 Yeah that album kicked a lot of ass in high school for sure!! Still love jammin with switch 625.

My favorite Def Leppard album and one of my all-time favorites!

Hell yeah, killer album and smokin' tone. I believe they were MV JMP's into Greenback cabs

It was probably a JMP. There's a video here of a modded 4-holer JCM 800 that was used by Steve Clark live, not necessarily on the album. I think the album tone is more raw.

At 17 we were playing High n Dry and Let it Go back in 83..with no singer lol. Saw them headline at the LaCrosse ctr here in Wi the same year...they were and still are the LOUDEST show I've ever seen. Priest-Screaming for Vengeance the year before is a distant 2nd. Years later in '94 we started off the main stage at Rock Fest here in Wi with Switch 625 and ran it right into 'New York City' by the Cult. Love the Leppard!

I was at both of those shows in LaX. I believe Uriah Heap opened for DL and if I remember correctly Heaven opened for Priest. I've seen a bunch of killer shows at the LaCrosse Center. Great memories!

I was at the Lacrosse center for my Kids graduation. They live out there with my Ex and I was there to see them Grad from High School. Great area of the USA.

Me too buddy. I have lots of bootlegs. Many of them quite crappy sounding but some pretty good stuff too. Rhoads live was freaking sick! And so was his live tone!

It is! I grew up in Winona Mn 20 minutes away, always trying to see shows down there. Another cool one was Kiss in 83 I think...only went to see Dokken open up for them!

"Me and my Wine" was originally released on the "Bringing In The Heartbreak" 45 B-side and then later as a remix 45 B-side in 1984. It has been included on some of the CD releases. They need to reissue this remastered with the tow additional tracks.

Def Leppard's first 3 LPs were definitely a soundtrack of my early teens!!! Saw them on the Pyro tour!!

That album started it all for me. Got it for Christmas in the 7th grade and it was the primary driving force for picking up a guitar. One of my all time favorites.

That sounds pretty awesome! Fun tone to rock out with for sure.
