Well a choke is an inductor; which is a device that resists change in current flow. So knowing that, you might say that eliminating it would make the feel more bouncy, and maybe a bit more compressed in feel. Maybe it cleans up a little bit better too. But I dont know.

Im sure SF had a good reason to change it. Maybe it was the bottom line. Lol

They compared the two and could not tell the difference so they took it out.

It gets brutal with no boost.

It gets brutal without even pegging the gain but some people want that sizzle/distortion that makes everything easy to play and with that crispy distorted top end of modern metal. While aggressive sounding, the D60/D120 in my opinion has vintage feel that makes many uncomfortable because it makes you work.

Sounds good to me, I don't really dig boosting - thanks Bob!
