If you listen at 1:40 you can hear his cranked guitar tone...its that low gain woody knock and no "chung chung" whatsoever. To me low gain amps boosted sound better/heavier than high gainers turned down? And some high gainers have that characteristic chung no matter where the preamp is set...sounds good in a bedroom situation but cranked up sounds hollow with the drummer pounding next to you.

Not above... his SLO tone is just a little different and has a different high end thingy going on...especially perceptible on lead breaks.
just a little more compressed and not as clear..

Warren in the 80's.

These days ...

Not sure what Ur point is ?

I'm a bit confused too - Anyway he started using SLO's around Reach For The Sky - he was also using SLO's on the Detonator album and tour

Here is his rig from 1991

I don't know that much about was he does or doesn't use ?
I just remember the funny George Lynch story about George trying to steal Warrens modded Marshall
At his kids birthday party . George said it was the best sounding head ?

I have a Warren custom shop hand wound in an a voyager sounds killer !!
My buddy was trying out my legacy and had a charvel with a custom/custom
Hands down the warren was way better big difference . Both of us could not believe it !!

I was going to say... both clips you posted are from his SLO days? Giving yourself away was on Detonator which was after Reach for the Sky which already featured the SLO. The guy has awesome tone either way. He's got exceptional feel and knows how to dial in his amps.

To my lousy ears, at least, that sounds just like a SLO into a greenback-type speaker. Beautiful tone and a great great player.

Yep. Sounds like a SLO on the crunch channel through Grrenbacks.

There in lies the reason most 80's bands died. I didn't want to listen through a minute of that gay song to get to a solo or anything else. Great guitar players like Warren and Lynch had to suffer through too much gay commerical crap songs.

and that's one of the better RATT songs! lol... Pearcy looks like a concentration camp victim though. He might need to lay off the drugs. That won't help his vox though, he's never had any.

SLO on the crunch channel, enough gain there for leads?

sorry for the confusion guys... when they played here in 91 he was using marshalls and the other guitarist MS was using a marshall as well... I thought I could really hear the differences between the two.. but obviously no one else hears it so .... lol
Does anyone hear a characteristic to the soldano tone especially when playing leads?? ive had a few SLO's and I always heard it. I think I read somewhere that demartini used his marshall's when recording detonator and nobody rides for free...the 1999 album entitled Ratt is definitely SLO.. you can tell instantly.

Yeah, life sucks as a player when you have gold records and are headlining stadiums. ;)

I'm sure Warren and Lynch were just fine with it. The hits are the only reason they're still around today and not working construction.

With the Master on 8 and above yes.
Below that needs a boost

Ya gotta take the good with the bad...I've never liked that song in particular, or any Ratt ballads for that matter (Closer to my Heart), but their up tempo stuff like Top Secret or Dance or Wanted Man is awesome. Dance has my favorite Di Martini tone by far.

I totally agree.. I was a judas priest/ maiden/ malmsteen guy in 86 and when a buddy of mine let me hear the opening chords of dance on his Walkman I shit myself... the tone was blowing me away. It was the plexi I believe...
