The Demons & Wizards tour rolled through Seattle last night and I went up to check it out. D&W was pretty much on fire the whole night, the live lineup is basically two Iced Earth members and three Blind Guardian members. Highly recommended, especially if you’re a fan of the first album - they played all my favorite tracks from that release. Hansi was a little shaky vocally over the first couple of songs but I think it was in-ear / monitor issues as talked to the stage sound person during a solo while gesturing to his ears and his voice got much better after that. Jon Schaffer killed it but then again he has always been great on rhythm guitar, other three members were all on point.

Tone was good for them all night, Jon Schaffer was on Kemper (really surprising!) and I believe Jake Dreyer was on Kemper also.

Openers were Lizzy Borden & Tyr - not a big Lizzy Borden fan but I get the appeal, they had good tone and I think both guitarists were on AxeFX units. I’m a fan of older Tyr stuff and truthfully I’ve not really bothered checking out their newer material over the last number of years because it hasn’t appealed to me that much - their set was solid but they had the worst sound of the night - kinda muddy (basically how they’ve sounded every time I see them live), they were on Kempers with the patch changes automated.
