for the no politics/religion change to the forum today? Interesting,, need to know the back story on this one
Don;t know about political threads BUT I DO know I went back and checked out your band camp page and that is some killer music!garey77":1fd2z4sv said:Why not just have a sub forum dedicated to politics/religion and relegate those posts there?
+1 - Off Topic has become a cesspool of insults and other nonsense, over political stuff especially. The incredible divide in the country has manifested itself there big time. I see no reason to continue it...stephen sawall":4c3yi5a8 said:It was no longer discussion about politics. It became a pathetic mess. A few years ago it was more open and did not immediately become personal. I remember having heated debates with individuals about politics and religion and a few minutes later would be having a great conversation with the same person about gear. Some of these people I strongly disagreed with became trusted friends. Recently I have seen the crazy political nonsense bleed over to gear threads.
None of us have any rights here. The owner makes the rules and gets to change them whenever they want to, without notice. This is not a First Amendment issue. And we have no one to blame for this but ourselves. We couldn't have respectful discourse on these subjects and because of that, we lost the ability to discuss them.Badronald":31mjzt6y said:Congratulations Rig-Talk on caving to liberal / PC culture.

You're being obtuse. Who are the "perpetrators"? And what can we do about them?Badronald":3rcaaxx2 said:None of us have any rights here. Correct

This is not a First Amendment issue. Correct
And we have no one to blame for this but ourselves. Incorrect. We can blame the perpetrators.
We couldn't have respectful discourse on these subjects and because of that, we lost the ability to discuss them. Incorrect. Some couldn't.
As far as "caving to liberal / PC culture", when did we get a vote? We didn't.
Oh yeah, we didn't because we have no rights here. The only thing we could do to not "cave" is leave the forum en masse. Not sure what you're suggesting? Read my post above. It's clear.
None of us actually know why the political/religious threads were banned. Someone does. There are other ways to deal with the perpetrators. Read my post above.
Could have been complaints, could have been that the owners decided that the personal attacks didn't fit with their corporate brand. Either way, as I said, we have no one to blame but ourselves... Incorrect. Blame the perpetrators.

Exactly. Keep us simply talking about gear, gasing, and ultimately spending money.sah5150":r9k3gnp2 said:, could have been that the owners decided that the personal attacks didn't fit with their corporate brand. .

I definitely look at a few forum members(not here specifically but other forums as well) differently than I did before I read some of their politically charged rants. Some dudes I would consider bros turned out to be real dicks when it came to politics and/or religion, like I said not here specifically. Then when they would post in the main forums I was like,"fuck that dude, I don't care what he has to say about gear or what he's selling."![]()
There are plenty places on the web to argue and roll around in the mud. This is a place to get away from all that negativity.
