Thank all of you so much. I think what I might do is pick up a Einstein then save up for a Hagen, Herbert, or VH4. My biggest complaint about the big 3, if you want to call them that, of the Diezel family is that they don't come with a simple foot switch. I don't have midi and never want it. I just want to be able to switch channels.

I probably would be willing to go ahead and spend the extra 1000 on a used Herbert or VH4 if I didn't have to buy a massive midi foot switch.

Check out the midi mouse and midi moose. They're both pretty cheap and simple.

Lets see if i'm over thinking the midi thing. The Midi mouse is the perfect size. It has three buttons up, down, and active/search. Say if I wanted to switch from channel 1 (clean) to 3 (main distortion) on a vh4 would I have to tap dance on the pedal till I got to the right patch? or could I set the Up button to say clean, the active button to dirty and down to Super dirty

I don't think you can set the active search as a channel. I don't know about the midi mouse, but I have a Herbert and I'm using the midi moose. I found the midi moose on ebay for $75 used and I am very happy with it. I don't think midi foot controllers get much cheaper than the midi mouse and midi moose. You might also want to look into the Behringer fcb1010, it's about $150 new and maybe around $100 used.

Ok I have one more question before I can decide to go with the Einstein. How much low end does it have compared to other amps? My Nitro has huge low end and I have kind of become used to hearing it so when I play something that doesn't it sounds like something is off.

It has Deep control. It never went past 10 o'clock on mine, cause at least through my 4x12, I think, it would cause irreversible changes in my living place building construction.
In short it has huge bottom end to my ears at least.

I really enjoy the Einstein but the vh4 and herbert are better metal amps.

Good for you, after 15 years at the same company and getting a nice bonuses and raises, they gave me the old Goose Egg! :(

Two things that any amp I own must have:
A really thick, chewy, singing lead voice to keep me inspired.
A solo boost function built into the floorboard, which usually means the amp has to have a second master or boost function built into the amp!

i just got an einstein for a killer deal from our bassist of all people, just waiting for some rack gear to complete the setup but really impressed so far

for the price they are really great amps imo, with 2 channels you have less functionality per say, but if it's all you need it's bang on

i actually use channel 1 in texas mode, with a hint of breakup (gain at 11 or so) that way i can use the volume knob to clean up for super clean and add some pedals for more of a crunch and channel 2 for everything with gain and more =0

for some reason i even prefer channel1 in mode 2 for clean sounds as opposed to the mode 1 which does sound nice but the texas mode just has a bit more character to it and sizzle

you can dial a lot of low end into the amp if needed, the deep and presence knobs work incredibly well, a lot of bass and gain on tap =)

whatever your decision i don't think you can go wrong with diezel amps, i'm a convert in any case
