I’d have to check, but ch3 for sure, gain around noon, bass about 2-3 o’clock, mids at about 1 o’clock, treble 2-3 o’clock, presence at 3 o’clock, depth 3 o’clock as well. Channel volume up to around 1 o’clock, master at 9 o’clock. That sounds about right. Unidyne 57 on axis right on the grill about 2 inches off the center of the cone. No midcut, however, I do use the empress para eq in the loop to cut around the same frequency as the mid cut ( about 400hz) with the medium Q setting. This to me is much much better than using the mid cut, as the mid cut is too broad and sounds fake to me compared to using an eq in the loop, specifically a parametric like the empress.

Nice thanks so much man.
✌️

That amp and channel are my favorites on the Fractal FM3. Sometimes I use other amps, particularly if wanting an older flavor, but my favorite for that massive chug sound and soaring leads. I use the Devon Townsend preset (he created for the FM) with only a touch of tweaking. Your SoundCloud sounds good, by the way... cuts through nicely.

Thanks guys, the Herbert just rules for tracking literally anything to me. My dessert island recording amp probably, no doubt about it. It just works for everything and sounds unreal.

Nice ! I got tons of cool ‘non metal’ tones from mine! Owned 3 herberts. Such a powerhouse of an amp!! ??

The thing people say bout ‘not cutting in a mix’
Should of stood front my full stack! That amp would slug your nutsack around like a punching bag make you sterile!!!
??

Funny thing had that issue using my old Herbert with my other guitarist I flipped the phase of my amp and had no issues as long as you don’t abuse the mid cut. Couldn’t agree with you guys more.

I felt is wasn’t cutting enough for me. Preferred the VH4. It’s a great clip nonetheless. And I’m a big fan of diezel in general.

I have one too. Sounds awesome love it. Amazing amp Just when I get to low tunings I feel sometimes I don’t get enough of that visceral air behind me. It’s amazing how versatile the vh4 is.

i will completely with you that yes, I am not a fan of the Herbert. But once again, recording and tracking is a completely different animal, as evidenced here by this track. It slices through this mix like a hot knife through butter, but wouldn’t at all the way I have it set up here, for live use. It’s been years since I’ve used the Herbert live but I doubt I’d be happy using it, Atleast for the vibe I would want live. I love much more raw throaty tones live, and the Herbert is too polished for me live as well, however again, recording is a completely different story: total dessert island recording amp.

Totally understood agree with you. Thats why I’m getting the Herbert for tracking and reamping. have a wizard inbound too. Totally different mid range character for that grind
