Its pretty simple set up with gcp the herbert only programs in patches. So you choose a patch channel on the gcp go over to the herbert choose which channel and functions you want active such as volume 2, mid cut , loop etc .... then press the learn switch on the herbert once ley it blink and then push the learn switch again and then its a done deal the patch will call up whatever you programed on the herbert! oh and make sure it patch on the gcp has a different channel for the herbert. Like for button one on the GCP is herbert 1 button 2 is herbert 2 so on and so on!

What has been said is correct. I run the my Herbert with a LF Pro and it's awesome!! Powers the controller, no problem.

On another note. I heard about a Diezel footswitch in the works and I have also heard about a new midi chip, not from Diezel, that will allow you to use your IA buttons to control channels AND features on Herbert or the VH4 or the Hagen. Very interested in that possibility myself. It will be an easy swap out and will give Instant Access to all amp functions.

I have been REALLY wanting to be able to use IA's to switch mid-cut and loop functions on/off without having to switch the entire preset. Should be totally excellent!!!

Keep us posted on your progress...have fun

Diezel ROCKS!!!

Dude that sounds awesome! at first i was debating on getting the Columbus, but i just couldn't justify spending close to $600 on a controller ya know. I guess ill wait, seems like theres a few different options in the works.

Bottom line is you have a great controller in the GCPro and don't need another, unless you want another one of course :D

Personally, I am holding out for the new chip I have heard about to do amazing things. If I can use the IA buttons on my controller to change all the functions on the Herbert, that's just plain awesome!!

I am also interested to hear what Diezel is going to produce for their foot switch, however I also heard, not positive, that the new Diezel foot switch only works with amps that have the new, special jack on the back, namely Hagen and MK II Herbert, not older models.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong

I have an older Herbert, not ancient just not MKII. So Diezel's foot switch won't help me anyway. But, if changing the chip will, I am IN big time. Also, the chip works on many Diezel models regardless of age, I believe. So that means the VH4, Herbert, I am assuming Herbert MKII, and Hagen as well. To me that sounds like a decent solution for all of us :D

I guess we will see what happens when Diezel's foot switch is formally announced and when the new chip becomes available. I always love Peter's ideas and products, so I am sure it won't disappoint, the issue is, will it work for me?

Until the dust settles, we are all using the preset changes and that is it.

Congrats on your membership into the greatest amp family ever, DIEZEL
