I have seen what is considered old dual rectos with 2 channels and newer dual rectos with 3 channels. why would the newer ones be called dual when they have 3 channels?

does the old version still get as heavy?

2 rectifier tubes

Yes they get as heavey but the good rectos are the old 2 channel rackmount heads.

single rec - 2 power tubes, 1 rec tube
dual rec - 4 power tubes, 2 rec tube
triple rec - 6 power tubes, 3 rec tube

The pre 500's and most old 2 channels are solid. Also the Trem o verbs are nice as well.

The old Dual Recs do sound awesome, but I am not biased personally. I love all Rectifiers equally haha.

Huge difference as in the old ones just have it or the new ones are still pretty good? So when ppl say old they mean the rack version then.

Ive played the old Single channel black face heads and those had "it" as well but its something you have to see for yourself!

They mean like the old like 2 channels. Rack or head versions. I mean they sound dramatically different yes, but I myself love the new ones just as much. BUT most people prefer the old 2 channel rectos.

Yea i guess its also just the Mojo aspect ive heard good tones come from the newer ones but the old ones have a better touch response when you play.

Nah I totally feel you. On the old ones I have been in contact with I would have been totally fine playing them without a boost for instance, but on the new ones its an absolute must for me.

The Dual Rectifier got its name because of the option of being able to swap between two different types of rectifier circuits (tube or solid-state). The amount of channels or the number of rectifier tubes had absolutely nothing to do with the name of the amp.

check out Steve39stripe's Rackmount Dual Rec. I sold it to him...it sounds awesome...in fact I may have to buy it back...

I think the older 2 ch heads and rackmount have a feel and playability to them that the rest dont have. Im a 2ch fan for sure. Ive owned many - almost one of every type made. My fav was my old Rev F Triple Rec.

Hi fellas in your opinion (not a recto guy... yet) which of these sounds more... recto?
