I think you are spot on! I also wish that they added Midi but can see why they didn't because if they did that no one would but the GSp1101 and optional footswitch.

I think this is an awesome piece of gear and I can't wait to see what they release at NAMM
They will release an updated one with the things I wished it had of course.

I don't have a need for midi but can see where some guys could use it. It's laid out very nicely for the 4 cm method and so easy to get around on.

Hey this looks very interesting! And the demos I found in youtube are quite promising as well.

I do have one concern abt this: our other guitarist used to have the Line6 M13, used it with the 4cm, and it did color the tone somewhat too much. How much would you say the Digitech affects the amps own tone when you have say a delay and an od running in there? Does it color the tone so that you can hear it easily? As much as a Boss GT8 or something like that...?

I can't compare to the L6 products. So, no help for those asking.

I plugged it in, it asked for toe down and heel down on the pedal to set it and a couple other things and just hit OK and go. Hit the amp sims bypass button for FX only. PS #3 is a wonderful delay/verb lead setting. Never even turned a knob. The built in pedal assigns to control expression level or volume or engage the wah immediately by mashing the toe down, like a Dunlop.

Haven't tried it in the loop yet. But as the other guys said, it can run in the loop or 4CM. I was just running up front and completely happy with that.

Other than getting a cool amp, I haven't been this excited in a long time over gear. I was fully expecting tone suck, noise, etc. And, there was none. If this fucker would switch amp channels, it would be 100% complete for me. But, I am happy with it as is - especially for a Made in USA product, Lexicon FX, tough metal housing, easy to stomp and a big LCD screen.

Anyway, good stuff here.

Damn all of you guys for really liking something that I don't have which is making me want to have it.

We like stacks too. :)

My latest "like". Rick hit it out of the park with the new Wizard MTL.

Been using the GSP1101's for a few years now. It's basically a rackmount version of the RP1000. I'm very pleased with them. They have their shortcomings, but overall they're good sounding, decent units.

Someone asked earlier, comparing this and the M9?
I've got an M9 thread goin, id lean towards line 6 vs RP for effects, but if this is cheaper, and has the same quality....?! :aww:

And! Will these work in a Soldano loop?

There are quite a few threads over at TGP comparing the RP and the new HD series line 6. The general consensis is that the RP's effects are at least as good or maybe better. Many like the amps models better on the HD but some complain about some artifacts on the higher gain models (I know, I know). But most say the RP is very close as far as amp models and is much easier to use. If you get a chance, listen to some of Greazygeo's clips. They sound great and very amp like. As I said earlier, his clips demostrate that you can get some low and mid gain tones, use the volume knob and still get some dynamics. Also, there's a guy on TGP that has all the most recent midpriced modelers. His name is Will Chen. He's done some great clips as well. He's a big fan of the RP stuff.

In the used market, the prices are great on these things. I was initially looking at the M9 and M13 but to me you get a lot more for your money with the RP. My experience is that the Digitech stuff is easier to use than the line 6 too.

absolutely, 250-275 all day... and yesm its much easier to use than the Line 6 stuff or just about anyone elses stuff out there.

Digitech gets a bad rep for alot of stuff and most of it is unfounded . Theyre putting out stuff that is not only quality but very intuitive and guitarist friendly at great price points. They dont over think things for the most part and give the working musician things that he needs and can actually use..

I think I'll be getting one of these as a cool tool for jams and small gigs...seems like a perfect match for a single channel clean amp.

Just posted on another thread, but here it is again. Easy as hell to go through. Haven't even had to the RTFM yet. Mash the button that says "Amp/Cab Bypass" to get FX only. Save and tweak a few factory presets and I am ready for action. Straight into the front of the amp.

Yup and even better if the amp has a loop...

One of the coolest things that it does IMHO is turn a single channel amp into a channel switcher of sorts. Lets say that you have something like a JCM800 with a Loop. You 4 cable the RP1000, set your 800 for its blazing dirt tone and dial in a clean Fender model patch on the RP. You have all of your FX at your disposal for the dirt and when you hit the Fender Patch, the from of the amp is shut off and the modeler goes through the loop using the amp as a power section... Thats what I call, smart practical application and it does it without needing a degree in programming to set up....

You and me both Bro. I have some mental block with programming stuff and its more a function of my ingrained Italian lack of patience than not having the smarts to do it. The RP is so straightforward without any ancillary BS,,,

The name turns some people off, Digitech. Digital technology. If they took the RP1000 and rehoused it in a metal box that looked like a tweed covering and called it, crusty old analog effects or something, then it would be THE thing to have over on TGP.

Yep, sad but true..

I'm using a GSP1101.
I like it - and it can be loaded with IR files.
The poor man's AxeII, cause it had an USB- and headphone-out since ages. The software thing for us mac users is a pita, but hey, thats why I have a Windumb7 (or is it 8 now?) partition (sp?) on my MBP.

How do you guys feel about it as a stand alone unit?... meaning using it for all your sounds - dirt, clean, everything - not using an amp for your core tone. Maybe straight into the PA even. The clips of the Line 6 HDxxx sound pretty good, with the specific amp modelers and such. Thoughts?
