I asked earlier but, does anyone know how to play mp3's through the pedal to learn songs. On the RP 500 they have an input but the 1000 doesn't. But it does have the USB port?
The usb is for using the edit software and also for direct recording. It will do 2 channels to and 2 channels from the DAW software. You might be able to run the song thru two channels on your daw and have it go thru the unit.

I have had the RP1000 for a couple years now and really like it. I use it in the 4CM with a Randall RM100. So far I have only used it for delay, reverb, wah, and for kicking in a boost in the stomp loop on a patch or two.

I am not much of a tweaker so I haven't really spent much time setting up any gainy amp tones with it. Hey George, care to share some settings?

Ive been using the RP500 for about 2 years now. Most gigs I just go direct. My main amp sim is the Marshall MV. The thing that really suprises me is how well it cleans up using your guitar volume. It does it better than alot of amps Ive tried.

As a couple have stated earlier, if it had a couple switching options for amp channels this would be the ticket for me. The other thing is I wish it ran off a regular IEC and not a wall wart. Minor thing but it makes making a proper loom much easier.

Ha! Jumped on the bandwagon. I bought one yesterday for 200. I should have it sometime next week. I think this is going to work out well for me. And, I can sell a few pedals amd more than pay for it.

Yeah, I'm really excited about it. I've used Digitech modelors for over 10 years now. This is the product that they needed then, where you could just use effects and combinations of. The 4cm and the ability to simulate a multi channel amp sold me for sure. And the fact that practicalll everyone that's bought one has raved about it. I really don't use a lot of effects. But when I do I like them to be convenient and patchs work best for me to keep down the tap dancing.

I appreciate the input guys!

With the 4CM can you still run a it along with other pedals in front of the amp? I don't use many, but I've got a tuner, and a couple OD Pedals I use to push the amp a little more, can I still do that, and have the effects in the loop?

This might be the exact thing I've been looking for....

Yes, you can do that. Best though is to head over to the Digitech website and download the manual. It shows all the various options for rigging up.

Well my Nova System died on me at a gig, it's simply frozen...a paper weight.
It's under a year old, so I am going to try returning it to the store I purchased it from and put the return money towards the purchase of that Digitech unit that uses an iPad as the interface...since my lovely girlfriend gave me an iPad2 64 gig tablet for Christmas.

OK. I got my rp1000 a couple weeks ago. Believe it or not it sat in the box for a week. I finally got it out and hooked it up to my amp in the 4CM.

First impressions. The setup and ability to develop useful patches in a very short time is awesome. It's simple to program and the X-edit software is very easy to use. I had 12 gig worthy patches set up in an hour. That was doing quite a bit of playing at gig volume (the wife didn't care for it much because I was in the living room cranking it! hehe) to ensure I had the right levels on the patches.

Most of the patches I made were using stompbox OD's, chorus and delay's. I did use the octiver on a couple things too. All of which were very convincing. I was very sceptical because I've tried to go this route in the past and it never worked. Also, I set up a couple clean patches (I have a JCM 800, no clean channel), an acoustic patch, and a couple modern high gain patches. All sounded good. The acoustic patch is going to take some tweaking to get to sound REALLY convincing, but it'll do right now with a cover gig

I have just scratched the surface on this thing, but I think this is really going to work out for me. The box is amazingly simple to use and doesn't take a lot of tweaking to get great tone from it. I was actually excited about this piece of gear after the run through. Someone mentioned earlier or in another thread that the x-edit wasn't that easy to use. But, I thought it would be difficult to be much easier. It was just like a bunch of stompboxes to me.

I think if you are looking at the mid level modelers, or an effects only box, you can't beat this thing. Hell, I paid more than my last two stomps the RP1000 cost me.

Good to hear its working out for you. Yeah it's really simple to program.

I didnt think the X edit was hard to use, but I was used to the old J Station software which was alot the same. The only drag is that it won't work with my Mac.

I wondered if the quality was same as the digit evh GSP 1101. I have that and the matching pedal. It's so simple to use. Changes presets instantly. I run it for fx only with my Herbert. I was telling my guitarist to pu a rp1000. Digit evh has come a long way from days of old.

Digging the hell out of this unit. Running it straight up in front of the Wizard MTL with a couple of factory presets. Watch out for a big pedal sell off.

Whoever turned me onto this - thank you!

Just curious...how did you go from loving this thing enough that you planned a pedal sell-off to now selling the RP1000? Did you encounter some issues?

It's fine sitting in the man cave noodling around. Playing gigs though, too much work. It does pack a lot of power through, for the money.

Interesting, because I found that once setup, it's easier and more convenient (not as much tap dancing) for me than individual pedals. It did take some tweaking to get it right. But I'm loving mine and it works great for gigging.

Yeah, it was that tweaking part that I couldn't get past....

Different strokes for different folks.

i did a quick rp1000 w/ blackstar ht-5 video awhile back. the rp1000 is really nice in 4cm.

oh, and i did figure out how to get the amp levels right after this video.

check out the digitech forum for tons of presets i made. user "singtall".

After reading all this good stuff about Digitech, I've been experimenting with an RP500, which I believe is the same processor but without the effects loop switching, and I'd say it's the best processor I've yet tried for direct recording (I've had Pods, Boss GTs, Behringer V-Amp etc) - BUT, it does suck tone. Admittedly, it's not as bad as the Boss units, but if you do an A/B with guitar direct into the amp compared with guitar - rp - amp, there is a difference, and the guitar has definitely lost some of the good sound that I bought it for. It's a shame, as there is such a lot to like about this thing - but I can't live with losing the loveable tone of my guitar. With the more distorted sounds it's not a problem, but when I want the clean tone of guitar and amp plus some delay or reverb from the rp, it definitely degrades the signal. Oh well; have to wait for the next generation, I suppose.
