Dimarzio Andy Timmons pickup?

How is the At-1 in a maple body/maple board guitar? is the At-1 bright sounding?
Also Does Andy Timmons use the cruiser (bridge version) in the neck?

I really dig the PAF 36th BRIDGE model (DP223) and the Norton. The more I hear about the AT-1, the more interested I am in trying one out.

that's what vrad keeps saying...he's got one in an alder strat he built for a friend and he says it's killer...and the AT 1 seems like the 36th just a bit more...may be perfect forme

Apparently The JB was designed to work with 250k pots and the reason most people hate them is that they use 500k pots.
That makes the JB extremely harsh and spikey.

The idea behind the AT1 was to make a pickup that works with 500k pots but SOUNDS like the JB with 250k.

I had an AT1 in a guitar that was stolen and I loved it.

I had an AT-1 for a few weeks before I decided to swap it out. Here are my thoughts. The pickups sounds great for soloing. Warm, fat and nice on the ears. I loved it for that. What I didn't love with that it was too polite for rhythms. It doesn't have a lot of bite to it. No matter how I EQed my amp or adjusted the gain, it just seemed too polite. This may or may not be an issue to you... But for me, it just made the pickup a no go.

The Custom 5 is really really good. Sounds great for leads and it cleans up nicely.

that's becoming my thoughts on the AT 1...being described as a JB w/ a 250K pot kinda thing, that makes me think it may not be for me..

I'm narrowing the list down (as far as dimarzio goes)..norton or 36th

now my other main concern is if the damn thing is going to fit into my guitar or not! looking at the dimensions on the dimarzios vs the duncans it seems the dimarzios sit a little taller because of the way their mounting bracket it set up...the physical pickup doesn't look bigger but those feet with the screw holes make it seem to sit taller...

my lynch doesn't have any mounting brackets...how it's done is there's a peice of double sided foam tape against the body...you mount the pup to the guitar with screws sitting between the body and the plate and the tape/springs allow you to adjust the height

if this is teh same case with strats (they don't have mounting rings either as far as I know?) then I should be ok..if not..well, I may have to forgo dimarzio altogether =(

I would try a Fred for what you are describing. Medium gain, vocal, good pup.

I actually settled on a norton..but it's out of stock like everywhere right now..ugh
