i'm going to replace the pickups on my ESP H-1001 i want them versatil as posible. i like metal, blues, fusion, progressive, hard rock. dimarzio that have tried are : breed  liquifire and crunchlab :dunno: blaze  air norton  thanks!!!!!
Here are the specs:
Set-thru neck
25-1/2" scale
Mahogany body
Flamed maple top
Maple neck
Rosewood Fingerboard
42mm standard nut
Thin-U neck contour
24 extra-jumbo frets
Black nickel hardware
ESP locking tuners
TonePros locking Tune-o-matic-style string-thru bridge
EMG-81 bridge
EMG-85 neck

I love the d'activators myself in the bridge position and the blaze in the neck.

neck - Humbucker From Hell
Bridge - Super Distortion

should cover everything

I swear by the Tone Zone with maple necks to balance the brightness.

I've got an LP 7-string with a PAF in the neck and Air Norton at the bridge and I love it. The PAF has great clarity and cut so I think it works well in the darker neck position. The Air Norton is maybe dark, but very solid and thick sounding. Neither is very high output so it handles the lower gain bluezzz and rock stuff, but they hold together under very high gain without getting fuzzy, fizzy, or muddy.

i'd go

bridge - tone zone or super D
neck - super 2

I just put bridge and neck Dimarzio Transitions in my Thinline Tele and think they sound amazing and are very versatile in my opinion .
Very clear pickups really even maybe a little bright , but the semi hollow body can be adding to that and I roll off the tone and loose some brightness .
I put a coil splitter in as well I can get most any tone I desire .
Could not be more happy !!
I think there are many pickups better for certain things, but as far as well rounded and versatile I think The Dimarzio Transitions fit the bill !!

Neck - Humbucker From Hell or EJ Custom
Bridge - D Activator

I had this combo in a guitar at one point, it was really nice.

I would like try these combinations: tone zone/air norton,norton/paf 36 anniversary, titans, par joe/mojoe,transitions but I read somewhere that they are great pickups but not for metal.

PAF Pro neck
Air Zone bridge

^ I like this.

Maybe a Gravity Storm in the bridge instead? Either way...

Not on Mahogany, they didn't work out on mine at all.
Basswood yes....they work and sound great on my JemFP2

Transitions on Mahogany/Maple top on my J Custom are absolutely killer and so versatile!

:)

I prefer a pair of air Jordon's in the neck and a No Fly Zone in the bridge.

I see what you are going for. I think the first two would be great. Well the Joes combo too. Don't leave out to try an Air Classic/EJ Neck if you want lower output.
