Dimensions for Guitar 2x15"???

For a custom lopo closed back, can I just specify dimensions that are appropriate for matching the width and depth of my custom lopo 3x12? (I think 39"x 16")

Or, do I need to get some actual cabinet plans?

I'd rather just wing it, and hope for the best. The 3x12 sounds awesome BTW.

what drivers are you using?

i've foudn that thiner wider cabs work better for guitar then deeper

what kind of wood are you planning on using? avoid poplar...too boomy for 15s with guitar.

Birch would be a good idea, thicker the better, the more solid the cab the more solid the punch.. rear mounting i found works better in a band situation, i like frount mounted but it just fills the room too much and interfers with the bass and drum mics too much

metal grill works better with mic'n it due to the extra little bit of top end

I was thinking:

Ceramic Weber Blue Dog 15

and:

ElectroVoice EVM15B

I want a large sound with a lot of clarity, but with enough Mojo for big clean tones.

I plan on having this match the dimensions for stacking under my 3x12. (Which is a lengthwise slant cab. bottom depth is 16", top is 14"

So, I was thinking:

20 H x 39 W x 16 D no slant, just straight.

My unloaded lopo quote is a lot more than my 3x12 was.

I guess I'm going pawnshop surfing for an actual bass 2x15 in a few days.

I seem to remember some minty Trace Elliot 2x15's downtown for less than my unloaded custom quote.

Might as well save on shipping too

Don't know if you'd consider one but keep an eye out for the old Randall 2x15s too. I think they were part of Dime's Warhead stack.

Oh, that may be, I just wasen't sure. seems like there are some books somwhere that gave me that impression when I was thinking about doing it. I have seen in the crutchfield catalog where there is a internal volume recomended ( min-max ) for subs, and that some were desighned for sealed desighns, some for ported. maybe dosen't apply to this application?

ooh, that's a good idea.

Crutchfield might even have a calc on their website.

or I can just find a sweet, used bass cab.
