Dimes Warhead amp reborn for 2023

I've heard most of the higher end Fortin/Randall stuff was pretty good; the RD 45 was too. The 100 was a disappointment though.

I think some of y'all are confusing the dime head that Dean guitars put out(a copy of the OG Randall 100) with the Warhead that was Dimes first signature Randall amp. Those Dean dime amps were ok. Just ok. The Randall warheads with graphic and parametric eqs were a nightmare. The best thing Rita could do for the Dime fans would be to clone the C200. Just my opinion. As for the guitars, the smart move for Rita would be to make clones of the washburn dimes since Dean guitars owns the ML patent. But Rita is in control of the razorback and stealth patents. In all honesty, I bought a bottle of her new Black Tooth rye whiskey for my liquor collection...so if Dime Guitarz(Rita's new project)makes anything I like, I will buy it. I had a crush on her when we were kids. Yeah...I said it. Arlington blood runs deep.

didnt they make a second "improved" version of the warhead for a minute?? the power switches were in the back of one of them??

edit: now that im looking at pics some do have the power switch in the back

Dude that is just not true. I'd hold my Dimebag Shop-Vac, "New Level Snow Cone Machine, and Pantera-autographed "Cemetary Gates" ironing board up against any product out there but we don't just buy anything........
Ill

Spot on. The ones with the switch on the back were the second generation. Darrell flat out said these amps sucked. He would use them for a clean tone, but that's it. That's why Randall got Egnater to do the X2. Not long after that, he got the Krank endorsement. Note that he never used the Krank heads on the Damage Plan tour. He had a road case with some old Randalls behind the cabs including one of the MTS heads and an X2...those were what powered the Krank cabs. I know I have a pic somewhere.

Someone mentioned earlier hearing Dime’s tone live and I have to agree. I only caught them twice in ‘01 (at least I got to see em!) but man, that was somethin’ else. It’s still not a tone I’d go for for my own shit, but goddamn you don’t generally get to hear a band that tight, that loud with the room of an arena filling up with sound, downbeats pummeling your body, fuck those were badass shows.

It’s another aspect of the tribute shows that had me not giving a shit about them using the Pantera name; the only way they were going to get into arenas and get to be heard at a comparable volume/size of what they were doing in the 90’s was by using that name and getting on some big bills. Phil already did the club tours doing Pantera songs, that clearly wasn’t getting into the arena level.

I would honestly say that Dime collectors are one of the most dedicated and educated collectors right now. The real rare stuff doesn't last (if it ever hits at all) and is an instant re-sell (or never sold at all)
Do they hope that the assets hold value? I hope it's more about the preservation rather than the potential income.

Interested to see what these will be. As everybody said, the OG warhead was garbage. The X2 really was Dimes tone in a box, but only at 500 decibels since it was 300 watts. Useless at anything less than stadium volume. The Dean Dime amps were a cheap RG100 copy made with cheap parts and they sounded like shit compared to a Randall. The Century 200 was the best amp he ever used and recorded with. Those are also his main live tone for most of their tours. If they do anything but a 100% authentic copy of the C200 they're not giving his fans what they want. Dudes are paying stupid money for the centuries now. Some lunatic gave me $3k for mine a few years ago, now that's the going rate for a $200 SS amp.

interesting, i saw him a couple nights before he died and he was using his kranks, for some reason his tech was either fired or wasnt there or something and he had to set up his rig himself, i was buddies with shadows fall back then who was headlining and they gave me a working laminate so i was able to stand there and watch him get set up and ready which to me was the coolest thing. there were no randalls or racks anywhere but it was a smaller club and without the tech maybe he just went with the kranks? i remember he had a mxr wylde overdrive on his board which i was too scared to ask him what it was  i took these on my old flip phone

He was using the Kranks at the end with Damageplan, he never recorded with them tho. The consensus is mostly that they weren't great. (Insert Marty's Krankenstein toilet paper holder pic)

That was like when I saw Helmet in 92'. It was so tight that you could hear total silence between riffs and i was like good lord, the tone!

No thump? You’ve obviously never seen Pantera live.
I have, 2002ish. Wasn't really my thing, never has been, no matter how many people on forums tell me I have to like it haha. Kick and Snare triggers where like fish slapping against a wall and far too loud. Dime's tone fizzy and any form of thump was being dealt with by the bass. I think the old "Symphonic" SPX chorus is cool though if it wasn't being slammed in the 5-8khz rage. Solos where shredded pentatonics and dive bombs sounded like cutting sheet metal in the distance. Just not my (dime)bag. Cool show, but sonically didn't make my ears happy.

I remember reading Grady saying there wasn’t enough money to bring him out on tour. If I remember right, he went and helped Dime out with the rig before they left for tour as Dime had just started putting it all together on his own and basically un-did his Pantera rig without really knowing how to get it all back together.

That's exactly how it sounded in 94. Dime played great but his tone sounded like wet cardboard.

i saw Pantera in 1991 at the Button South in Hallandale Beach, FL. opening for Wrathchild America & Dime's Tone wasn't terrible.....Wrathchilds was better. Pantera Sounded Exactly like CFH Album & Phil actually hit all his high notes back then.

This inflation has got to change .almost everything I buy at the grocery store has doubled in price . The last 3 years are rough
That’s why I bought my oldest son and my grandchildren a house on 7 acres. Cashed out my 401k. Leaving my house and property for my youngest son. Boom. I have done my duty for my scions….
