Anyone know what the specs on DS are ? Is the high gain input the BE ? What transformers are in it ? Heyboer or Mercury Magnetics ? I know the loop is Metro...I REALLY want to pull the trigger on one of these, but I'd like to know a little more about it before I place my order with Brad...

Hey Pauly, look forward to hearing from you on this. The high Gain input has more gain but different structure than the BE, More ZZ Top than Motley Crue if that makes any sense. The transformers are custom for Dave and I believe. The Dirty Shirley Output Transformer is Heyboer, Power Transformer is Magnetic Components and the Choke is rom Mercury. Let me know if I can help.

The clips sound AWESOME ! Is the chassis steel or aluminum like a JTM 45 ? Is the gain like the HBE or less than that ? I would imagine less because of the 3 pre amp tubes in DS vs 4 in HBE...and is Metro making these also ? Arguing with the wife over tax return money...I'll be in touch at some point Brad. Thanks !

Chassis is steel I believe, Gain is more like the BE, Yes George at Metro is making them to Daves specs like all of the Friedman amps.

Ok...so gain is more than BE but less than HBE...check.

Interesting about the chassis being that original JTM 45s were aluminium and not steel.

The tube compliment and stated "classic rock style" amp descriptions would lead one to believe it's a higher gain JTM 45 style amp with Friedman's touch (BE gain, master, and optional loop).

Very cool.

This is right on track.

Reza...it was your first clip posted above and a guy with a Les Paul and a TS808 that made me sit up and take notice of 'Ole Shirley, so thanks for that ! That first clip of yours reminds me of Gilmour...just perfect. The Les Paul/808 clip I saw sounded like a little more 80s hard rock/pop metal to me...also very cool. Dokkenish/Rattish tones...seems like Ole Shirl is a bit of a Jack of all Trades.

Which clip? I don't see one with a LP/TS808.

It's not on here...I did a Google search for Friedman Dirty Shirley and a bunch of clips came up...one of them was a guy with a LP and an 808 and it's a REALY cool tone IMHO. Reza's first clip reminds me a bit of Gilmour.

ok...after searching through the entire Friedman threads , the spec is based on the C45 Mod that Dave does to Marshalls but based on an aluminum chassis JTM 45 build with 5881 output tubes, the above mentioned transformers, tube rectifier, and the Metro loop is optional.

This is not exactly correct. Loop is standard now. It's very loosely based on the c45.

This is a drool worthy design. I've got one in transit from a Rig Talk member!!! Can't wait to put it through its paces.
