That peavey rig may surprise you. The dirty side isn't terrible either.

Ya know what? The clips of that pedal sound great! I was just now listening to some. Why don't you get your boyz at Krank to send me one for free to try out?

Seriously, I will see what can be done! :D

I realise you've probably already been asked and answered this, but! Have you tried the Crunchbox from Mi audio? I'm a big fan and I haven't heard anything nail that cranked plexi/JCM800 vibe.

I think great pedal tone is a hit or miss proposition. It depends on the entire signal chain, not just the pedal. I've had few OD pedals. The only ones I still have are a Tonebone plexitube and a Blackstar HT Dual. Both tube driven ODs. The plexitube can sound very good thru my clean JCM 800 with a LP but just doesn't cut it using my Strat. The Blackstar is more transparent than the Tonebone. I can get it to sound virtually identical to the amp's OD tone. Works well with both Strat and LP though you need to tweak it for each.

Yet, when I hooked it up to a friend's 50 watt JMP that he just picked up, it sounded like ass. I didn't have much time to dial it all in but I was surprised just how bad it did sound compared to running thru my 2204 as they are virtually identical amps.

You need to find the right combo of amp, pedal and guitar. Which we all know can be a big PITA.
