I really like Zvex fuzzes. I had a Fuzz Factory back in the day that was a lot of fun. I used his Mastotron on bass for years. I'm pretty sure his are all tweaked out Fuzz Face circuits.

Sobbat Fuzzbreaker 1-R is my go to, which is essentially just a japanese germanium sunface (I've a/b'd them)
Also enjoy the fuzz circuit in the Pigtronix Disnortion and Keeley Darkside for more muff-adjacent toanes

Never been much of a fan but decided to delve into it a few years ago. I got a Keeley Fuzz Bender. It's pretty cool. I think I'm just dicovering that I really don't care for Germanium chips. I have a few ODs with them as well and for some reason, the tone profile just doesn't sit well with me

the big draw on the Germanium transistors is the way they clean up with a Volume knob ..... there's nothing like them

I use the fuzz effects in my Line-6 HX-Effects;, mostly the FuzzFace model. I have a ZVex Fuzz Factory, and EHX Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker.
edit: I don't use fuzz much these days, but good to have fuzz.

I've built and modded a few DOD Classic Fuzzes ..... I see you also crank the " fuzz " knob ..... they don't seem to do shit until you do ..these are all gnarly in their own way, though i dont play them as much as i should

I could build one ...... I've seen schematics for it .... and Smallbear still has NOS transistor sets ... they're pricey but ... they are the real deal

I'm not really a everything revolves around my volume knob kind of guy ..... but if you set up a whole rig based around doing that .... the results can be pretty gnarly !
sparkling cleans you can't get from just an amp .... and then you roll up your volume and it's full on Hendrix time ..
