Do we really even need a Cameron Forum ?

I have zero money at stake, have never been screwed by him, and never had any of his amps, which means I'm a fair bit more impartial than a lot of folks. I object to people getting taken for their money, whether they had zero idea or just a slight inclination that things may not be right with Cameron. I work my ass off for my money, as I'm sure a lot of people do, and someone walking away with your money or amp with no real impetus to get it back to you is criminal. Furthermore a lot of these people hear nothing back in regards to the status of their amps whether they inquire by PM, email, or phone, but as soon as the layout for a mod is out in the open, JB hears about it quick fast and in a hurry.

In short, that's shady business. I think it sucks. I didn't know that I needed to have been personally invested with either cash or an amp at his house before I thought it sucks.

+1. Man this exactly sums up what I think. Great post.

Dear God yes we need to keep it - it's comedy gold! Gold Jerry, gold!!

On a serious note - if you remove the forum you remove the ability for anyone who has an outstanding issue to voice their concerns where other Cameron customers will see them. It might not seem like much, but if I had something to bitch about I'd rather do it on the company's own forum, instead of any random gear forum, most of whom frown on those types of threads anyway.

I was ready to drop that forum the second time the mods/Mark went through and wiped the posts (after being asked a number of times to stop deleting posts). Thump had the same concern you do, which was people with outstanding orders, etc. would feel left in the cold. We left the forum up, but my opinion was to remove it and have nothing to do with the fiasco.

Well since you don't see the need to be personally invested, I am shocked you didn't voice your same opinions in the thread where Ear Candy stole someone's money... I copied the link so you can post your similar disgust like you do with Cameron's.

I didn't realize we had an Earcandy forum on Rig Talk.

I think that it's important to have the forum so that I can keep customers in touch with Mark and Vice Versa.

There's the big problem. Why do you need to act as a middle man between Mark and his clients? How would someone feel if they sent Mark money a year ago and never heard of you, then a year later they still can't get a hold of Mark and you step in and act as Marks shield. Just doesn't sound right. Is it really that hard for him to pick up the phone and send out emails on a daily basis? If he's really that busy that he can't get back to people how did he find the time to call JB so fast about the reverse engineering issue?

Just looking through the Cameron forum there's people begging for any info from Mark, they sent out money and they have no amp and it doesn't seem like Mark cares at all because if you're willing to take someones money, you should be willing to bend over backwards for them which doesn't look to be the case.

The customer is the life blood of the company. If the business doesn't take care of them someone else will.

:hys: they should be able to get in touch with him anyways, that's the whole friggin' point. They should know more about their own property than you Nick.

Ok you got it ! Your right dude!!!!!! from now on everyone is on there own then! How does that sound? You think that make things better? make people happier???... then so be it !

You mean you won't be there to hold someone's hand and tell them there amp is almost ready to ship and they should have it in a week or so which in turn means about 2 to 3 fucking years !

Come on Nick , I really think you are a ok honest guy even if I have slammed you a bit , but really how can you associate yourself with all this dishonest poor excuse bullshit that surrounds this thing anyway ?

I know you are just telling people what Mark has told you , but you have to realize how bad it is making you look .

Removing moderator privileges and locking the whole thing would be a step in the right direction..whatever is on there stays as historical legacy so people can see what they are dealing with, unless the shit gets sorted.

OK, has the head lunatic on RT here is what I think...

The Cameron Forum is left up so people have a place to read all the opinions and thoughts on his mod's, tone and business practices. Then someone can make an informed decision as to do business with him or not. It doesn't take the CIA to read some of the threads and figure out if you want to roll the dice. If it was not there people would have no clue what they are dealing with and no one place to get clued in.

That said for every horror story there is a glowing story about his ability as a amp guru I don't think anyone disputes that and as we are here to talk tone and gear it would be a loss to not have his "work" here as it is renowned even if he is not.

For the record I do not condone Mods deleting any posts over there good, bad or ugly as that would totally undermine the whole first paragraph I just wrote. Mods if you see something that needs to be deleted from the boards drop me a pm and I will do it that way the buck stops with me which is how it should be. If this does not happen, I will take over that forum as the sole mod.

I do not know Mark but I have owned his amps and for the most part they are very very good. I have not done business with him but from everything I have seen thats a minefield I choose not to venture down.

Brad

ps: Talking to Mike Fortin about his own Forum now as well. I think we would like to have him aboard.

Maybe the high bids on the CCV amp were to either get it to reverse engineer it, or to reduce the threat of that as there are a very limited # of these floating around? I read the other thread BTW, but there is so much BS going on now it's hard to find the real truth.

I am still leading towards artificially generated market value...

Or him posting a blanket statement about a certain amp model he repaired basically saying they were all junk. Me asking a question to clarify it, and him being a major dick in return.....my only interaction with him.

Great news Brad!

so what's really changed? Nothing

Seems to me like the same thing was going on BEFORE all the cameron production line hype started what, two Namms ago? And people were ready to jump in front of a bus for him in order to defend his honor. And now people are pissed because they didn't get their amps in a timely fashion and talking smack.

It's the same as it ever was. Only thing I can see that's different now is people have another avenue to pursue that's been getting mondo hype, so now they can back another horse in the holy grail of amps race.

But that makes too much sense. We dont need common sense around here. :D

Probably not. …but we might as well get rid of Laboga Amp forum and Trailer Trash forums as well. Neither of which have had posts since March or April. At least the Cameron forum has action and people have their amps. Who has a Laboga amp?

I have a Laboga amp and I love what I get out of it. Very hard to dial in a bad sound on a Mr. Hector.....

But... if a forum is not active, get rid of it. IMHO forums should be dynamic; they should come and go as needed.

My opinion (for what it is)... delete the Cameron forum. It's too negative, and exists to service a handful of people who are lucky enough to have a Cameron amp. Plus, (again my opinion) I'm personally not convinced that Mark C. and Chris S. deserve to have a forum until business practices GREATLY improve.
