I'm not referring to using stereo effects, just the sound of 1 x vs 2 x rigs. Which do you prefer, and why?

Let's see.

Splawn + Splawn + ktre + k100 +rockerverb + 18w

398 watts all tube in the shop into 19 12" speakers. All hooked up. I would probably throw my breaker though. Who needs lights. Phew.

I used rigs with two or more amps for a few decades. I switched to single amp rigs about a decade ago.
Less issues with phase, ground loops, sound person blending the amps wrong, etc.

There is some great sounds when using more than one amp....but a single amp is easier to control.

Live is just one. I don't like hauling more than I have to. Or risk damage or theft.

Other than that one off gig a week or two ago, I have not gigged in a while. I bring as little as possible. Lol.

Since I've switched back to using a mono signal, I don't need side-by-side amplifiers. I suppose this should have asked "Have you ever had a hard time parting with a piece of gear?" thread. I ran one amp with a flat EQ, so going to the one amp hasn't effected my sound much at all. I think most people have a hard time selling things. I have a hard time holding onto things that I don't need. That being said, I've grown rather fond of this particular amp.
