Hey Everyone!

Just a post for fun, Im a big Mesa guy so maybe I’m biased, but I was curious how the general thoughts on the Rev F Rectifiers has been lately. I saw they have recently sky rocketed in price over the years!

Thanks to everyone in advance for the thoughts on the topic!

I've played them all except Rev D and the new 90s reissue. Rev F is fine but if you want it to play tight trashy riffs, you'll still want to boost it anyway, so I'd just get a cheaper Rev G.

Thanks for the input! I can understand that, the used market has gone crazy! From what I understand the Rectifiers are very different amp to amp during that era too. Dropping that much on a Rev F for it to be one of the off sounding ones would really suck haha.

I have an F that I love but I voted No.

Yes it's the best recto I've played, but I could easily be happy with a G.

I paid a heap for my F, now that I know how subtle the difference is between the F and G, I wouldn't pay that much for one if given my time again.

Dude if get the tremoverb befure rev f and you will be glad .
Thanks for the input! It may just be the rectifier Variance from amp to amp, but I have a 1992 Rev F and a mid late 90’s ToV and it’s night and day difference. The ToV is very dark and non articulate, that infamous “Fizz”. I have it but I kinda hate it, the goal is to get it to Ground Zero for modding make it useable for me. The Rev F is the grail tone I always looked for in the Recto but I got mine for like $2400 thankfully haha. It’s got that fluid drive gain but very chunky bass and a certain tightness to it, the fizzy aspect is not really present too. Paired with the TS9 boost it’s perfect.

What about a decent Tremoverb instead? Does the Rev F really sound that different? I can't imagine playing $5K+ for a 30-year-old Rectifier when a Tremoverb or Rectoverb goes for $800 - $1500.
Thanks for the reply! For me it was very different where the Rev F was hilariously better but like they say It could be my ToV was just not “a good one” haha

Idk . My was not to fizzy how I set it up and boosted it . It was actually very cool with a great grind. It sounded like AIC DIRT in a box . Think them bones

I dunno man... I've been listening to Rectifier clips all day and in every blind shootout between all the variations, I consistently pick the Rev G as the one I prefer. And I believe that's what the Tremoverb is? But I will say that the differences are still quite subtle, at least in all the clips I'm finding.

Gnarly! Glad you guys were able to find what you needed in the Rev G! It’s all up to the eye of the beholder too, no amp is “better” than any other for sure. If it vibes, it’s the one haha. With that ToV I got It probably a case of what this guy talks about in this video haha:

Tremoverb is different IME. If you want a Recto, I'd still with a Dual/Triple unless you know you want a ToV.
It seems different for sure the Blues mode is supposed the be the Rockit Sauce for it, but I still haven’t had any kind of awakening with it way to buzzy and dark. My Rev F was instant sonic bliss and my Triple Rec Rev G is pretty close too once I put the hot mod in it. Hopefully one day I can get that ToV modded by Ground Zero, that would skyrocket it to my number one after that haha.

They all sound awesome. I’ve never had a triple. I remember seeing this video years ago and thinking iin a practice room you can hear the amp has no issue pumping out the gain and volume. Of course recto and a PRS were the 90’s staple of heavy bands.

between the triple G, Dual G and Dual D - my dual rev F is my absolutly favourite. If the modded ones dont count
Definitely hear you on that haha, For me the Rev F just sonically hits everything I was looking for in a Recto haha

Triples have a very nice low end to them from my experience. I wish I had a Rev F Triple that’s the true grail Recto for me I’d think.
