Thanks for all the responses--I had to laugh at most of them though. I mean I couldn't have been more clear on the parameters I was looking for and damn if just about everyone ignored most of them lol. Say I am looking for a combo? Half dozen people tell me a head cab is "better" (which I obviously already realize since I have 5 amp heads). Specifically say I want a 40 lb amp? Dozen people recommend 100lb amps. Say I want an amp that can do high gain without pedals? Dozen people tell me to use pedals.

From what I can see, the Budda and the Mesa 25 fit the bill...

I said Electra Dyne thinking the 1x12 combo couldn't weigh much over 40 lbs...yeah, it's 70   The tone is worth it though. The Express 5:25 1x12 combo is 45 lbs fwiw.

Or you could always grab a lil smokey!

I actually have a smokey! Yeah the 5:25 is a good call--I forgot about that amp because I think they originally were a 1x10, but then changed to a 1x12. The plus model with the EQ might be perfect.

Thing is, I don't care WHAT amp I use. I always back the gain down and boost it up with a pedal. I've always done that..most guys here do also. Mesas, Engl, doesn't matter. If you polled everyone on here I bet everyone boosts their rig with few exceptions. I PM'd you about my Jub combo because it's 43 lbs and no you don't need to boost it but if you need modern tones you might..crank it and you may not. It just needs a 20$ danelectro eq pedal..put a battery in it and throw it in the back of the combo. One extra cord..just carry your guitar and combo and you're done. Simple.

Contrary to a lot of apparently sensitive folks here--this stuff is NOT easily found by using the search function. I had no idea the Jub combo was so light--great info. As far as pedals, like I stated I will not be toting a pedalboard to this/these types of gigs. Two hands, a clip on tuner and a cord.

Sorry not wanting to buy online without playing...appreciate the offer tho

No worries man..it is difficult buying stuff without playing but that's what we all do here lol..just trying to help. The truth about my Jube combo is that it has chased every amp outta here until I got this SLO..I get the hype now. The Cameron modded Marshalls are all great but I can get that outta this Jube with a boost. No shit. Good luck in the search..

Right now the Mesa Rectoverb 25 and the Budda Superdrive are looking the best for my situation I think. I think I am going to stumble into a Mesa Subway Rocket this weekend so that might work as well...

ROV25 combo is awesome, and quite loud. Between the four modes, it covers a lot of ground. I've got it, though I've got the head+widebody ported cab. The combo's only like 41 pounds. The Express 5:25+ is also a great amp.

I don't believe anyone has mentioned the DV Mark stuff. Lightweight is part of their thing. The DV40 1x12 weighs 35 pounds and is two channels. I couldn't find any "modern" type gain clips from that particular model, but it might be worth checking into by contacting them or a local GC might have them in stock. Getting White Zombie type tones doesn't seem like it would be too difficult.

Another option that would certainly open up other options would be to find a 1x12 combo that works but just might be a little too heavy and swap out the speaker with a neodymium magnet speaker like the Celestion Century models or what ever else might be available. That alone will knock off 10 pounds.
