Don't like the older Rectos but like the Recto MultiWatt

I've owned 3 recto's in the past, two early 2000's 3 channel recto and a Rev G Racktifier. Ive just not been a fan of the lead channels and feel they are too sludgey and slow sounding on their own. A TS does wonders and tightens up the amp and sounds great........but that's just a band aid. I don't want to use a boost and the recto cant get that tone on its own.

So the MultiWatt Recto. Watched a vid of some guy with a PRS doing a demo. Like what I heard. Sounded almost like he had a boost out in front tightening things up but yet he didn't. Yet I read that the changes are subtle and not earth shattering different. In order for me to like the recto its probably going have to be earth shattering different like what I heard in the demo video. Still has the recto base tone that I like but quick, effortless and fluid.

You owners that didn't care for the older rectos but the MultiWatt has you a recto fan now........where are you?

I can't speak for any of the newer Recto's, but my Rev C is pretty tight for a Recto. Like you, I didn't dig my Rev G. It was way too loose. I'm a Marshall guy at heart, so I prefer that thinner/ tighter sound.

I've owned a bunch of Rectos. From pre-200 serial # Duals... all the way thru to the current MW and I really like my current MW Triple the most. It is just that much tighter, brighter, and more present & upfront sounding than any of the previous versions. Still plenty thick and the scooped wall of sound is there when needed. If you are interested in a Recto, give the MW Triple a go.

How does it feel and respond compared to a SLO? Is it immediate and like having a TS out in front of a 2 chan recto?

More or less ... yes. Much tighter and more immediate attack and feel vs my SLO. You can still use an od808... but it's no longer mandatory. It's the tightest, fastest playing stock Recto I've tried. The larger power section helps with this much like in the Diezel Herbert... or old HiWatts.

Hmmmm, that's a game changer then. You see the amps in my sig, and I love the SLO feel but hate the loop.........

I have a Friedman DS Mini that someone is willing to trade me straight across for so I'm considering it.......I own the DS40 already but I don't want to go down the Recto path only to not like it once again and sell it. I called my local GC to see if they had any in stock to play but those dumbasses had me on hold for 10 minutes looking up to see if they had one in stock......go walk to your show room and look you idiot.......I hate GC.

I think you'd dig it. The serial loop is really good with minimal tone suck... far, far better than the SLO loop. I rarely ever use my SLO loop... usually just plug straight in. Definitely go MW. Triple if you can.

You are a prime candidate for an amp mod from Kyle Rhoads or Jerry at FJA . They should be able to tighten up the lead channel on any Rev Recto .

I've never played a multiwatt, but owned a few Rev F dual and triple rectos and have played revisions CDE and G. To me, every revision is a bit buzzy and the loop sucks lots of tone. Is the multiwatt different?

Dave, its supposed to be. What I've read is the differences are subtle, Wizard is the first thats told me otherwise and his findings line up with what I've watched/heard on youtube demos. Loop is now series and much improved so I hear. Clean improved. Lead channels, quick "thrashy" responsiveness instead of the slow gravely boom fizz of the old rectos.

Definitely. Give one a shot if you haven't. Definitely better. Don't be shy with the presence and treble. More the better.
