Don't text at a Maiden show.

I'm convinced that unless he is playing a sloppy shitty lead, Janick's guitar is turned off most of the time.. ;) That guy is garbage. I know he is one of their buddies but the only decent thing he ever wrote was Tailgunner and the riff for Tattoe'd Millionaire. I guess that's two more than I ever did but he's still a jerk off.

Maybe the guy was tweeting that Bruce's voice has been shot going on 20 years now.

Back away from the crack.

I saw them in Denver two summers ago and LOVED the show, but highly regret that I spent much of the time texting friends about being there. Was a HUGE waste of time and I wish I'd just enjoyed more of the show.

This type of behavior in concertgoers I don't quite understand. Why pay all the dough just to be there in text-land instead of watching what's happening in front of you and enjoying the show?

I'm glad you realized what a waste of time that is. I wish more people realized it.

Yeah... for myself I was just excited to be there and wanted to rub my experience in jealous friends' faces. ;)

But realized toward the end of the show that I'd wasted most of the night.

Even more of a waste is realizing that you've been watching Janick Gers prance around instead of watching the serious guys.

Yeah... I dunno what it is about that guy. Supposedly a really nice guy, but his mindless, sloppy shredding schtick does get old. I did like the work he did on Bruce's solo albums though. Anyways... Dave and Adrian definitely tell a story with their playing. It was VERY cool to see them pull out some LPs during the show, since all you ever see them with normally is Strats.

I'll be at the Denver show in a couple of weeks. Honestly, I'm praying for a non-painful toe injury to Janick before the show that prevents him from jackassing it up or even taking the stage. We're about 6th row on his and Dave Murray's side of the stage.

Nice! I've been debating driving down (500 miles from MT) for this show. My son really wants to go, but I've just got so many things going-on right now, I just don't see it happening. I'm sure I'd be up on the green for this show (since I haven't bought tix yet), which doesn't really thrill me. Would LOVE to see Maiden at Red Rocks sometime. Saw Rush down there the same summer I saw Maiden at it was pretty cool.

I didn't mean to derail this thread with the Janick speak, but like I posted in the OT forum. I seriously went in with an open mind (about Janick), but from the drop of the curtains he was doing all the schtick...windmills, posing, flailing at the guitar with his cable, prancing, hopping, and sticking his one leg out at a 90 degree angle on the monitor/stage prop. Sadly, he kept drawing my attention and it pissed me off.

Like Red_Label said, it was really cool to see Dave and Adrian bring out the Les Pauls. Adrian is definitely anchoring the show from a guitar standpoint. His backup vocals were very good also.

I just saw them in Milwaukee and they were great. Bruce sings incredibly well, especially when you consider how many years he has been at it. Maiden has managed to stay relevant with all generations of metal fans, I doubt many newer bands will have that staying power.

No worries. No derailment afaik. Janick is the elephant in the room for sure. I don't care to see him really at all. I'm there to see everyone else.

ZACTLY! I love me some Judas Priest, but the earlier comment about Maiden being somehow less than Priest is laughable.

This goes for practically every show now. People spend more time on the phone than they do watching the band..............it's pathetic. Put the fucking phone down and have some fun.

LMAO! :D I personally thought it was funny. He was just trying to imply, "Hey, you're missing the show while you continue to endlessly finger-fuck your phone!...Give it a break!" Sure, the guy paid the money to be there and has the right to fondle his phone to no end, but really.....why do people do that? Does it really make them feel so special to be able to tell someone that Maiden is kicking ass right as the show is underway? That's fucking gay. When I'm watching a show, the only thing I've got in my hand is a beer and/or my woman. Now, in between sets? Sure, I could see someone texting or what not. But, as Bruce implied....the guy had been doing it for some time, so he called him out for it. Just like the guy has the right to do so, Bruce has got the right to call him out for it....even if some perceive it as a dick move.

EXACTLY!

You know, I have to agree with Bruce. I saw Lenny Kravitz at Radio City Music Hall recently. It was an incredible show. I was wasted and taking tons of pictures. The show was sold out. I had awesome seats, and didn't bother to even sit down, because I figured...fuck it...I was going to be getting up to drink and everyone was standing and dancing anyway. Then I realized that pretty much everyone was watching the show on their Iphones. Either recording it or taking pics or texting it for their friends...and I even I realized how ironic that was. Here we were at this awesome show (and it was a special show for Lenny, ) and instead of enjoying it, we were all watching it on our phones/cameras.) Lenny must have realized it too at some point because he would come into the crowd at intervals with a camera which was projected onto giant screens. There was a giant shot of him be filmed being filmed on someone's phone. It was pretty funny. We were now watching the show live, on a phone, on a screen, at the show, live....lol. So, I can almost understand what it must feel like for them to bust their balls and see that....

It's called an OBSERVATION......followed by an OPINION of the said OBSERVATION. No need to be confused...these sort of things are common among human beings.

Should hve been putting in earplugs. I'm amazed the horse-gallop-tempo band is still around. Poor man's Priest.

Well duuuh.... I know it's an observation but when I'm at a show I don't pay attention to what others are doing. to each his own.

Fuck em, just enjoy the show yourself then. But some of you are sounding like an angry old man shaking his fist at some teenagers who walked on his lawn. :D

I do that all the time...................while I'm texting. ;)

Not a fan of texting, seen it too many times when people are texting or posting on facebook about an event rather than actually participating and enjoying. I don't fault Bruce for calling the guy out, he is trying to get the audience involved, I support his rant. I also have come to terms that I am just old, I had to announce that after I admitted to not liking Dubstep music. I yell at clouds routinely too. :) :)
