Don't text at a Maiden show.

Really he should be glad people still want to pay to see him.

Caught Maiden a few week backs in NY, Dickinson was great.
Had some nice things to say about New Joysey.
Maiden still rocks.

And I bet he says great things about New York when he's playing in Joisey. I think they should have hung it up after Seventh Son. They haven't aged well and they were always extremely one dimensional, enter the gallop.

Maidens cool...I just sick of the "clanky" perma gallop bass playing

He was saying he loved NJ.
A Matter Of Life And Death was a classic Maiden record.
The gallop was strong with that one.

I didn't mean to derail this thread with the Janick speak, but like I posted in the OT forum. I seriously went in with an open mind (about Janick), but from the drop of the curtains he was doing all the schtick...windmills, posing, flailing at the guitar with his cable, prancing, hopping, and sticking his one leg out at a 90 degree angle on the monitor/stage prop. Sadly, he kept drawing my attention and it pissed me off.

Like Red_Label said, it was really cool to see Dave and Adrian bring out the Les Pauls. Adrian is definitely anchoring the show from a guitar standpoint. His backup vocals were very good also.

No worries. No derailment afaik. Janick is the elephant in the room for sure. I don't care to see him really at all. I'm there to see everyone else.
As MisterBulbous will tell you, you'll have to seriously commit to ignoring him beforehand, or he will have you starelocked and slackjawed ;)
It will be harder than you think
It is doable, though it took me a few times

Not a fan of texting, seen it too many times when people are texting or posting on facebook about an event rather than actually participating and enjoying. I don't fault Bruce for calling the guy out, he is trying to get the audience involved, I support his rant. I also have come to terms that I am just old, I had to announce that after I admitted to not liking Dubstep music. I yell at clouds routinely too. :) :)

I feel your pain brudda

I just saw them in Milwaukee and they were great. Bruce sings incredibly well, especially when you consider how many years he has been at it. Maiden has managed to stay relevant with all generations of metal fans, I doubt many newer bands will have that staying power.

ZACTLY! I love me some Judas Priest, but the earlier comment about Maiden being somehow less than Priest is laughable.
Agreed

I'm up to the challenge. but not looking forward to his prancing about.

That was....ummmm...quite a bit less than what I was expecting to see; it's not like he pulled an Axl, stopped the show, and had the dude beaten and ejected

The guy paid for the ticked, so he does whatever the fook he wants. Maybe he brought his kid, wife, girlfriend or wahtever and doesn't give a sheet about Maiden.
I would text the whole time on a Yingwie gig, after the second song. Not because I don't like him, but that's my attention span for endless arpeggios and bad songs.

I expected more too, like maybe a sweet meltdown or something

Dood... could NOT possibly disagree with you more! I kind of drifted away from Maiden after the "Somewhere in Time" and "7th Son" period. Thought that was their swan song. Especially after Bruce and Adrian left. But I caught their Rock In Rio 2002 DVD years ago and was like "wow... where did all of these great new tunes come from?". The ones I'm referring to are on "Brave New World". Tunes like "Wicker Man", "Blood Brothers" and the title track. LOVE 'EM!!! In fact, I grew-up on them back in the early 80's and my favorate era was "Number of the Beast" and "Peice of Mind" (like most everyone else's). But I gotta say, "Brave New World", "Dance of Death" and "The Final Frontier" hold their own against older material very well, and I would say that I enjoy "Brave New World" nearly as much as "Peice of Mind" these days. Unlike so many other bands out there from yesteryear, Maiden just keeps on kicking ass, selling CDs and filling arenas/stadiums.

It's clear that you're not really a Maiden fan. And that's fine. To each his or her own. But don't think that wading in here and pissing all over them is gonna make a bit of difference to anyone who actually follows/enjoys them.

Btw... I should've probably "outgrown" Maiden years ago. In the early 90's I mostly moved-on to more technically complex prog metal, classical, flamenco, etc. But I can't help it... I still LOVE The Irons to this day. And a BIG part of the reason for that is that THEY ARE WHO THEY ARE. While other bands that I loved had meteoric peaks and flamed-out to be a shadow of their former selves (Ryche, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, etc), Maiden have continued to pound-out more or less the classic Maiden sounds. And while some people would criticize them for that... I LOVE them for it! (And clearly, so do many of their real fans.)

It works both ways. Bruce has got every right to call him out for doing so, as well as calling him a "WANKER!!!" while the crowd watches on and has a good laugh.
