When you are (53) years old and have been playing guitar for (35+) years and you hear a kid that is (19) that has better technique, phrasing, and vibrato than you?

Seriously though, I'm subscribed to this kid's Youtube channel and wanted to give a shout out to Ayrton Taylor.

This kid is already incredible and will be a household name eventually. Give him some props.

Feel free to post some vids of other up and coming guitarists that deserve mention in this thread, as well as adding some encouraging comments on their respective Youtube pages.

the resources available now vs when we were coming up in the 80s and 90s are not even comparable.

back then you had to have a teacher, or books that cost money, or videos that cost money, tab books that cost money, and you had to leave the house to obtain all that stuff. unless you were some natural talent who could just pick everything up by ear.

Now everything you could ever possibly need to know and practice to become a virtuoso is at anyones finger tips for free, along with you tube and zoom lessons. Plus these young kids have Adderall and countless packaged energy products out there to keep them wired for hours of practice.

it was bound to happen... :(

He's playing with lots of feel for sure, but it's just boxed pentatonic blues which I find gets boring quite quickly.

But yeah, there will always been some kid chained to a guitar with all the free time in the world to relentlessy practice haha

Yeah, but we had parachute pants and Swatch watches :rock:

Appreciate any kid rocking out nowadays! But yeah that Ostro kid is next level.

He is incredible. If he would make a rock oriented album he would be huge . He’s got to get out of the limited fusion phase. He is keisel contest video is the coolest solo I’ve ever heard and he was 15

No fair. I didn’t pickup the electric guitar until 17. Though I did have the same 1980’s style hugely oversized glasses frames. Next level talent for sure.

I literally don't care about any of these YouTube players

They can't write music, even compared to me roflmao

OOOHHH BOY SOME JAPANESE 3 YEAR OLD CAN SHRED

Who cares. They can't write songs ?

Writing music that touches people takes experiences to draw from, and Chinese toddlers don't have those.

Yeah fak that guy lol... nah but seriously I feel ya man. It seems like everyday there is some new vid of some 5 to 10 year old ripping it up on guitar or drums or something. I just hope it inspires more younger peeps to pick up instruments and play in general vs becoming fking DJ's.

I don't know man.... They could write an epic song about mid day nap time that could touch the soul.

Yeah...but they just live in the internet bubble looking for fake validation in the form of "likes". None of these internet wonder kids will ever know the joys of playing outdoor keg parties during the hot Texas summer wired to the gills on old school P2P made meth and cheap beer and tequila doing your best metal moves in leather pants and jackets trying to score with hot farm girls who just want to hear Stairway to Heaven. Getting bitten by chiggers or catching crabs and having to go to the pharmacy to buy Rid was a rite of passage.
IMO I'll take a great buzz and real pussy in real life over internet cred every time.
Far better memories in the long run.
I fear I might be sharing too much information....

It's amazing that there's an entire generation who's experience of "playing music" doesn't understand this

But every generation before that one knows EXACTLY what you're talking about

So you're criticizing 3 year olds because they can't write songs?

I mean, I get it I mostly can't listen to it either because of the lack of 'song'. It's not music I listen to for musical pleasure. But I guess I'm just impressed by the gymnastics of it. The ballet can come later (and it usually won't).

IMO, the vast majority of people can't write great songs. It's a rare gift.
