That's some funny shit there. And, I concur with the wankery and doucheness......

I so want to see Michael Angelo Batio break out a violin during his solo and do his best Nigel impersonation.

The fact that they left off these guys, is a glaring mistake:

Very funny & so true. Vai totally looks full of self importance in that clip! lol

I disagree with the Rick nielson inclusion, he is a top 10 NERD guitarist of all time not douchiest

How did Wes Borland, Ritchie Blackmore, Al DiMiola, Dave Mustaine, Kerry King, and Robert Fripp not make the list?

Biggest douche in that article was the writer IMO.

Agree about the writer. Pretty funny stuff but he lost me when he claimed that Joe Satriani taught Malmsteen and when he included EVH in the douche category. How hard is it to do some basic research and at least pretend that you know what you're talking about?

Agreed!

I think it's funny. There will no doubt be a bunch of people who actually get pissed off about it which is ridiculous.

  I fully expected to see Dave Navarro on that list, though.

Minus all the retard-o faces, that Vai video is pretty cool.

Not to mention their DOUCHE names.

I think the thread should be "douchiest writer of all time"

Leaving aside that quite a few of the players on that list are awesome players with tons of skill, it's clear where the Village Voice is coming from with its downtown post-punk proclivities and this article is just taking a dump on people with different taste.

Of course the idea of a technically accomplished rock player is anathema to them and the cheap shots are just a consequence of that. Sarcasm and irony coupled with low levels of competence are their stock in trade.

And for the record, a few of the guys on that list are very nice guys not that any of that should matter for the purposes of this "article."

^ This. Ironically I too found the article to be just as douchey.

Thank youuuuuuuu for saying it before I had to....

And c'mon, I love MAB!!!! Yeah, Nitro was the stereotype of everything 80's and then some, but he had huge influence on a LOT of the guys that came after him.... His DVD's helped a lot of people (including myself)... He's actually a pretty cool guy, he can come off like a jerk to some but he's pretty cool if you actually talk with him....

First time I saw the "Freight Train" video, I said to myself "that's not possible.... No freaking way...." .... apparently I was wrong!! o.O
