Great to get somthing new that actually performs as advertised  Was wondering if it compresses much?? or any? Thanks for posting this, I have been wondering about these

Well, I played with the RF-1 a few more hours last night and again today...man, am I dig'n this box.
When using the OD side, to MY ears, any additional compression is a cool normal result of adding more OD. If you hit your amp with more OD it's going to compress a little more...IMHO. What ever compression is added is very cool. Hitting the OD is like kicking the amp in butt.

I don't really hear any additional compression from the Boost side. I do think the Boost side adds a tad bit of brightness...in a good way. With the XTC, that's kind of a cool thing.

Something I didn't say much about is the micro Bass shift switch. Man, that thing is so cool. It seems to change the voicing of the bass end which really changes the voicing of the tone in general. I can't make up my mind which of the three settings I like. Setting "1" is higher end bass (maybe neutral). Setting "2" sounds like it's changing the mid bass and setting "3" hits the low bass...Dave correct me if I'm wrong about the focus of each of these settings. Any way, each of the settings sounds great...like having the ability to change the voicing of your amp in a very subtle way.

Just to clarify, if you're looking for a fuzz/distortion box that dramatically changes your tone 'cause you're not happy with you amps tone...this is NOT it. This pedal is way cool for those who have amps that ALREADY sound pretty good and you just want to kick it in the butt every once in a while. Having said that, I like the tone so much I may have it on MOST of the time.

I know someone in an earlier thread said the RF-1 didn't have enough gain for him. I did NOT find that to be the case. Then again, I wasn't looking for a high gain pedal. I believe Dave can also make mods upon request if you feel you do need more gain. :)

Alex, you got it right. 1 is neutral, 2 is a shift to lower mids and three is letting the most low end through. It basically shifts the lower frequencies that pass through the clipping stage cleanly and clipping any frequencies above those according to the different settings (ie capacitor values). Sorry about the geek speak! :D

Great...thanks for the GAS man! :aww:

Sorry, but I have to say, of all the pedals I own, this pedal fits my needs the best by a mile.

Sounds like I need one, thanks man  Been waiting for a RT race test

What are the major tonal differences between that an the BB? Anything that can surpass the BB must be pretty freakin' awesome :D

The BB was my favorite pedal but there are a few things about it that fell short of what I wanted. I wanted something that was going to give me more of what my amp was producing. The BB added a very little bit of high end fizz that I didn't like...'just nit picking but it's there. The BB also seemed to put a thin veil over the tone. From 1 to 10 I gave the BB an 8. It's a great pedal. The RF-1, to my ears, is the next step up. It really enhances the tone without getting in the way of the tone. To me it's like have a pedal that's a "more" switch for my XTC.

Your killing me

Ahhhh...but it's a sweet death.
and a reasonably priced death and funeral at that. $269.00 Pretty cheap price to "KILL" that longing!

If you think about it that's a pretty good deal. As I mentioned earlier, the pedal is like three pedals in one...boost, OD and then there's the combination of both. In addition, it's also got the bass shaping switch and tone dial for even more tones. Let's see...the average pedal runs around $100 to $150 for just one pedal...do the math. :D

Plus...it RAWKS!!!

 I agree. That's why I got one coming. I wonder what the body blow pedal brings to the table? Before I got side tracked on here, that is what I was asking? Dave hopefully can come along and answer this. ;) So the rocket fuel has the bass boost. That will be a handy thing to have..... say if you are running a les-paul in one set and then a strat in the next. Just flip a switch to help beef up the tone if you have it set right.

Hollywood, the Body Blow is more of a traditional overdrive pedal, in that it uses diodes and LED's for the clipping. The Rocket Fuel is using the op amp for the clipping. The Body Blow will get close to the Rocket Fuel sound using the LED's (modern setting), but not exactly. It's kind of hard to explain the difference in the gain, but it's definitely a different type of gain. Maybe a little grainy would be the best way to describe the Body Blow's gain compared to the Rocket Fuel. I guess if I had to describe the Rocket Fuel's thing in a quote, it would be "the pedal that makes you amp go to 11"!

Tweed, last time I talked with Dave the wait time from order to delivery was 30 days. :) So Dave according to what I was asking and what others are asking about, the Body Blow may be more of what they are looking for if it does more of a Overdrive pedal thing versus the Rocket Fuel being more of a boost so to speak. I understand fully what the RF pedal does but I wanted to know more about the B-Blow pedal and I figured you explaining that might help with some guys thinking they should just buy the RF and have MORE gain added. Then again I might wanna get a B-Blow pedal also.  Thanks.
