I've been looking for a new OD/Boost pedal for a while now and some here have suggested the Majik Box Rocket Fuel pedal. It looks good to me and the clips from the site sound great, however, I don't see many reviews about it on the net. I think HC only has two reviews...been there for a while. At $269.00, I wanted to wait a little while to see a few more reactions...nothing?

Has anyone else actually tried this thing?

The GAS is building.

I bought that pedal and it sounds great. I really liked the boost side. No bass loss, quiet, really nice. The overdrive was nice but not as gainey as I hoped. It sounded great but just not what I wanted for $270.00. The clips on the website are exactly what is sounds like.

Cool, I'm gald to hear that someone actually got one and tried it. So, if the pedal had more gain you'd like it or are there other things about it you don't like?

That was really it. It had enough gain if you had the boost and overdrive on at the same time but then there's no where to go.

Chip, I can do a mod on the pedal to have more gain on the OD side. It might loose a little overall volume but it will have more grind to it. Let me know and I would be happy to do it for you free of charge.

After PM'n Dave Simson, Majik Box, and bug'n him wit a bunch of questions...I pulled the trigger, went to the Majik Box website and placed my order. I'm very excited about getting this new pedal!

Now...da wait. :D

From Doug on his forum .....
I have been using it on tour to see how it was.... It really worked out great. Since I got home, I have been experimenting with some various settings.

There is a really cool one that I didnt use before. Its putting the Boost on about 2oclock. The Level on 10oc..tone knob OFF and the Gain on full.

Then keeping my guitar volumes on half with the neck PU a bit higher.... With this setting, you can go from really clean( Cause GTR Vols are down)
Then kick in either the Boost for a regular big tone, or the OD side for higher gain snarl. Or Both for something over the top.
Plus you got all that headroom on your guitar.
The pedal doesnt loose any bottom and has a real dramatic lead sound with this setting.
On tour I had it in my rack and it was just set as a Boost OD.... but this new setting is cool.

The pedal is not cheap. I asked about that cause I also think pedals should be as affordable as possible.
But after I heard the finished product, I thought the price was gonna be worth it and
more importantly, it was explained that the RF Pedal is hand built one pedal at a time. They are using the best of the best Caps and Filters.
Its really expensive to hand build stuff one at a time.
Anyway, Im really happy with what they delivered. I was so inspired yesterday just playing with the settings, that my wife had to drag me outa the studio after I guess about 5 hours.
Ill be hitting that thing again in a few minutes!
Se ya. Doug
PS, it sounds good with everyamp I have tried it with. VM, Old Marshall, Stock Marshall 50w, Fender Super and Soldano. I compared it with several other favorites and it stands up and has its own sound.

Cool, I'll have to try some of Doug's settings when I get mine.
