I ordered my DA-50 from Axe Palace and it included a footswitch. This amp kicks all sorts of ass by the way.

When did you order? Did you pay that extra shipping to get it quicker or had to wait till last week?

I ordered on the release day. I also paid extra for the shipping. I’ve had it for 5-6 weeks or so.

The entire layout of controls on front and back is exactly the same. If the circuit inside is exactly the same and the only difference is the tubes thats pretty lame !

The owner of Dover is friends with Mike Fortin. They designed the Hiwatt Super Hi together. I just wonder who is actually building these "handmade in the UK" amps for both of them.

If they are the same, I wonder why the Dover is priced at $1,500 and the Sigil is priced at $1,250. Must pay extra for the footswitch.

Don't forget The Kraken too

The Kraken doesn't have external bias and does appear slightly different. While the dover and sigil appear to have an identical layout - at least externally.

The Kraken came out a few years ago so that's probably why the Dover and fortin have external bias. I'd be willing to bet they are all made by the same place and only difference is power tubes. They all come in the same box with the same England tag on the handle. The only difference between boxes is that each have their name.

Hopefully the DA 50 is its own thing.

I have a feeling the DA 50 is probably the Hiwatt Custom Super Hi 50, or something very similar to it.

Is the DA 50 not just a 50 watt version of the 20? Maybe it’s just a 50 watt Sigil lol

Maybe they are like synergy amp modules all that basically look the same but sound different.... Who knows.

Very feasible to put a different component values into the same circuit board which otherwise shares all the same topology. Most amps are pretty much the same topology with different values anyway. Each designer could essentially voice their own amp using the same hardware and a few component differences. Usually the transformers and chassis and power supply caps add up to the bulk of the amp cost, this way they can manufacture/buy all those parts cheaper in bulk, swap a few cheap resistors and cap values here and there for each amp 'design'/voicing, and get the benefits of minimizing and simplifying inventory

Yeah I have no skin in this game but they didn’t sound very similar to me at NAMM. Mic’d both with a 609 and both were on V30 loaded 112’s. Let me grab both vids.

Ok here's the Sigil:

And here's the Dover. Skip to about 5:22

Worth mentioning, the DA-20 has a clean and the Fortin does not, as far as I recall.

I imagine they are same shell with different circuits inside and since amp circuits are so simple I wouldn't think they would use the same PCB.
