I think in the minds of the secular left a christian is supposed to be some sort of hermit-hieromonk who won't intervene when you and some of the more corrupted post modern minds attempt to install evils like abortion and men in women sports into our society. It's unrealistic to think the average Christian, or secular conservative for that matter, is going to stand idly by while you champion those causes.
