You know, I've heard people say that about Henry before. What I have not seen is an example of Henry backing that prose up with his playing.Carol-AnnAmps":13mvkq9q said:glassjaw7":13mvkq9q said:Really, really terrible Tom Morello ripoff??![]()

I think he was playing before Tom was born. While I'm not going to pretend I understand Henrys work at all, I don't, I do however meet and work with people from time to time that approach and take guitar to places truly bizarre and experiemental. Usually if you do get these guys to play something more traditional, they are incredible at whatever style you ask them to play. Some are simply bored of that traditional approach and want to go in to uncharted territories, often citing weird and wonderful instruments and exotic scales from all over the world as inspiration. Sometimes it very palatable , like Guthrie or tongue in cheek like Bucket Head or just downright weird like Henry or David Torn. Like I said, one things for sure, most of these guys could destroy most guitar players at their chosen styles.
It's funny the requests you get in amp designs from experimental guys too. They request things that most people would hate. Make my amp ghost like hell. Give me blocking distortion.....etc etc...these are just an extension of the tonal pallette to them. Again, some of it makes me cringe too, but when you realise that this same guy is a total monster player in a traditional sense, it makes you just understand more the restrictions you impose on yourself and what is and what is not music is only limited by your own preconceived notions.
Henry actually has a huge respect in the professional guitar community and is often cited as an inspiration to many more traditional guitar heroes. Love him or hate him, he's a true innovator and an astonishing musician. Not all his music is this far out there.

Most of us won't get it. And I'll be the first to admit that I don't get it.
They look and sound bat shit crazy while playing it![]()
but if they have fun and enjoy
it then that's all that matters.
I guess not in the Jeff Loomis/Keith Merrow professional guitar community though, huh?Carol-AnnAmps":3l0swdpf said:Henry actually has a huge respect in the professional guitar community and is often cited as an inspiration to many more traditional guitar heroes.
